Watched Saiyuki, Toothless Wakes Up...Mun is Confuzzled

[Toothless grumbles and shuffles his claws, peering at his mundane intently. She really shouldn't be so surprised after letting him befriend that nice guy who always offered him fish.

Speaking of, have you seen him Mundane? A visit would be nice.]

[If Kai was the type of kid to squeal over getting to see a real live dragon, he would. But he's not; he's the type to throw himself at said dragon and try to hug it. He stops in mid-lunge though, which results in him falling on his face. After a second he glances up and blows silver bangs out of his eyes, grinning.]

...well...hello there. [Charles in awe of the large dragon.]

[Toothless twitches an ear before softly rumbling a greeting. Hello there.]

[That was...interesting. Toothless pads over to sniff at him.]

You...are...amazing. [Charles angles his chair a bit better so he can see the whole beast.] I daresay I had quite a few books on your kind while growing up. I didn't think I would have the pleasure of meeting one though.

[Settling down where he is, Toothless listens attentively. He knows what books are. Hiccup reads them. His damaged tail swishes a little.]

[Charles knows better than to approach a (possibly wild) animal. He stays sitting in his wheelchair the measured distance between them.]

I'm Charles. [It seems like the dragon was understanding him.] How do you do?

[Always wise, though since Charles appears unarmed Toothless is relaxed. He makes a slight crooning noise in response and seems to be smiling, if the corners of his mouth turning up are any indication.]

[His curiosity grows, wondering if this was indeed a dragon or someone like Raven was, taking on the appearance of a dragon. He settles two fingers to the side of his head, reaching out with his mind to see if he can hear the creature's thoughts. Usually he can't hear the thoughts of animals because they weren't sentient.]

[Toothless was sentient in a sense, the most intelligent type of dragon, but not really human level intelligence. He was very curious about the human in the chair with wheels, and why the chair even has wheels though.]

[A smile spreads across his face, sensing Toothless' curiosity about himself. Closing his eyes, he sends the impression of Charles standing up and falling down without the chair.]

[Oh, sort of like how Hiccup needed a new leg, or how he can't fly on his own anymore? These are the things that come to mind from that.]

Yes, exactly. [Charles nods] Only with me, it was my back...which happened to be connected to my legs. [Toothless cannot fly on his own?] Is this Hiccup a friend?

[That's no good. Toothless moves to his feet and moves to investigate the chair.

Thoughts involving Hiccup from their first meeting after he was shot down to his new tail fin flash through his mind.]

[Charles stays alert, he's not fully sure he could control this creature should they decide he would be a better meal than a friend. But he lets him investigate the chair all he likes.]

Ah, I see. That's nice to have a friend like that.

[Charles, you are not fish...or to a lesser exent, sheep or ham. So you're not dinner. But he does agree, having Hiccup for a friend is good.]

[Charles puts out a hand carefully for inspection before seeing if Toothless wouldn't mind if he tried petting him.] Friends are always a good thing to have.

[Nosing the outstretched hand, Toothless stares at him with big, soft eyes. His round pupils are a good indication that he's okay with being petted.]

[Kai props himself up on his elbows and laughs as the dragon sniffs at him. This is great!]

I'm Kai, what's your name?

[He's not sure if the dragon can talk, but it's still polite to ask.]

[It's one of those moments you just want to hold your breath and hope it doesn't run away. Charles pets the nose carefully, quite taken with Toothless. He hasn't felt this young in awhile.]

[The gentle patting is rewarded with a quiet purr. He doesn't mind closeness, not really.]

[Nope, but that doesn't mean he can't answer. He opens his mouth...look, no teeth.]

[Kai stares into the empty mouth in fascination for a moment. Shouldn't there be teeth? And he guesses the dragon can't speak after all. But-]

Hey, is that your name? No teeth?

[He frowns for a second. That sounds dumb.]

...Toothless?

[Maybe that's it?]

Wow...you're like a great big housecat. With wings.

[Toothless lays back down, this time beside him.]

[downednightfury]

[Smiling, Toothless gives an approving grunt.]

[Charles appreciates the lower petting level. He makes good use of it, working along the dragon's head and neck as much as he can reach.]

If I may ask, why are you called Toothless?

Yay, Toothless!

[Laughing, Kai gets to his knees and throws his arms around the dragon's neck to give him a hug. He's not thinking it might be unwelcome; all he's thinking is how awesome it is to be this close to a real dragon...one that can understand him, no less.]
