You say you have my best interests in mind; but why should I expect you to be any different then any other adult I've ever known? Your just going to force me to go to a place I don't want to go and do a bunch of things I don't want to do. 

And, did you even think for a second about what I want?  Of course you didn't, your just like my mom and everyone else who works for NERV. You only pay attention to me when you need something.

I'm not sure I understand. My name is Rei.

[terreifying]

I'm Rei too.

[It was confusing, in a way. Yui Ikari always wanted a daugher named Rei. However, her firstborn had been a son, so she called him Shinji. Her second child would likely have been Rei Ikari, but she was lost during the failed contact experiment. And then, when she took in Naoko's first creation as a daughter, she named the child Rei in honor of the one she had lost.]

But we're not the same Rei. You're Mommy's daughter with Daddy, right? So do you have a big brother named Shinji? Or are you some version of who Shinji might have been?

That's right, but I don't have an older brother. But I do person know a named Shinji with blue hair that pilots EVA 01.

[terreifying]

Ah.

[So that's how it went. Mommy had a daughter named Rei before she could have a son named Shinji.]

Then I guess I'm a version of your Shinji.

[Her smile grows wider, showing off all too many teeth.]

Which means you're my little sister!

Besides, your nothing like the Shinji I know. He mostly stays to himself and doesn't talk to very much.

That's pretty much how that other me always acts. I guess I'd act like that too if Mommy and Daddy didn't raise me.

And it does work that way. Even if we don't count Daddy, we're both Mommy's daughters.

[Rei sighs.]

I guess if you think about it that way, and squint a little, it does make some sense.

And it would have been nice to have a sister growing up. That way, I wouldn'ts have been alone for all those years.

[terreifying]

You didn't grow up with the rest of us in my world either. But that was because my sisters were a real handful and Mommy wanted to keep you safe.

[She pats the other Rei's shoulder.]

But we can be sisters right now!

[Rei shudders a little as the other Rei touches her. Rei may have overcome many, many, things as of late, she still has quite a few issues concerning personal space.]

It might take some getting used to, but I'd like that. One problem though, won't it get confusing if we're both called Rei?

[terreifying]

That's why we all call Ichi "Ichi". It's because she's stuck in EVA 01 and I'm already Rei. But...since you're not in Unit 01, I guess we can't call you "Ichi".

Maybe you could just call me "sis" for now. I think that would make things much easier.

[terreifying]

That works! And you can call me sister or sis too.

So, has your mun sent you to a game?

[terreifying]

Yep. Animus. And maybe Exsillium, but then I'd need to act like that other me.

[A pause.]

I'd really like it if you came to Animus, though. I'm kinda alone there.

My mun says that she will think about.

As things stand now, she's still trying to hammer out some minor details of the AU -like what my mom's name is-.

Our parents are Gendo and Yui Ikari, right? Or are they switched around too?

She switched it around, so my father is Yu Ikari and my mother is a woman who is currently nameless.

[terreifying]

Daddy doesn't use his name much. Can your mun get away with calling her "Commander"?

[shine_like_a_legend]

I imagine she could just call mom Commander Ikari or Miss Ikari for the time being.

[terreifying]

Exactly. Maybe once whe finishes deciding other stuff, she can come back and give your Mom a name.
