Anxious to go on some sort of Adventure, are you? Well! I suppose such things as excessive amounts of Adventure and/or the probability of certain discomfort (and missed tea) aren't going to stop you, are they?

[On second thought, though, waiting for hours in one spot seems preferable to following a herd of dwarves and their impressive beards across the countryside. Between the thirteen beards and bushy pairs of eyebrows waggling at him over campfires, Bilbo is a bit out of his depth. Privately he thinks the mun has it easy.]

I doubt it will do much at all to stop your mun or many others! Though as adventures go, it seems much more pleasant, if a bit long to wait, and certainly quite worth it.

Adventures seem to attract a certain...sort, don't they? [Bilbo is, of course, much too polite to say by "sort", he means pushy people who eat him out of house and home and then always seem to be in a great big hurry once they're done with that!] So she says. Are you going on this type of Adventure too?

[Bilbo says it almost suspiciously]

[ you could not possibly have a more curdled look to you just then, Bilbo] All sorts, but usually those who are looking the least for it.

I certainly am! [he has heard the story countless times, but it has never gotten old... And a chance to see it!] Aren't you at all curious?

[barrelrider]

[Bilbo most certainly does not look curdled - he merely looks...ruffled! Yes, ruffled. ]

[At the question there is a very telling pause. Bilbo frowns at the other hobbit very, very sternly: if he was a wizard, he would have assumed that was a very wizard-like question, full of dips and corners.]

Only a little bit, I think! Naturally at a respectable distance.

Even having a little curiousity about adventures could be thought of as a bit queer.

Going on one and watching one from afar are completely different things!

Of course, of course.... But in both cases, you are seeking it out, are you not?

[barrelrider]

Of course not! Not intentionally. That is... [Bilbo trails off, with the distinct feeling somehow he's been tricked into this]

[iorhael]

[helpfully] I believe you were just saying something about certain sorts attracting Adventures.

[barrelrider]

[You have a terrible idea of what constitutes "helpful"] I suppose it's also possible that not-quite-certain sorts can also attract Adventures.

[iorhael]

I would have to say it all too possible! Although you must tell me how not-quite-certain sorts don't end up with these certain sorts.

[barrelrider]

If I knew the answer to that, I certainly wouldn't be in this...situation, now would I?

[iorhael]

I think you might have pretended as if you were out or not gone out for a good smoke that day if you had known.

[barrelrider]

Gandalf would have surely tracked me down, somehow. He's a wizard. They're good at that sort of thing, you know!
