It has come to my attention that you are, less then pleased about this whole 'Maritime Union' idea. And after giving it some thought I, Jerry Boyle, have decided that you are right. However, I still think that with a few changes it could work.

Now Jerry, you say. Why are you throwing your weight behind an idea that does not even involve Newfoundland? And to this I say...pah. How can you call this a maritime issue, without involving the great maritime province that is Newfoundland? Impossible.

Which is why I, Jerry Boyle, am founding a new party. The NewfoundBrunswickScotiaIslandLand party. Or, NBSIL for short.

Yes, I believe the time has come to join together, all of the maritime into one super province. A giant super machine as you will. Not dissimilar, to the ones I would draw in my school books as a boy, before the teacher caught me and hit me with a ruler to get back to work. 

As to who will lead this party, I modestly throw my hat into the ring. I may have no experience running a province, but I do know a few things about running a bake sale. And was it not a wise man who once said that, provinces are like baked goods? Yes it was. And I agree with the man who makes bread down the street. And this is why, I, Jerry Boyle, am running for leader of this great new party.

I am running for leader of a provincial party, not the leadership of our great nation itself.

The NewfoundBrunswickScotiaIslandLand Party would be more then happy to accept a campaign donation.

So long as they were not stale bagels or rotten vegetables ...we already have a lot of those.

Oh no no no, nothing like that. I have friends. They have big bank balances. If you're really going places, then I think they'd be happy to support an up and coming mover and shaker like yourself!

I don't know. The NewfoundBrunswickScotiaIslandLand Party is for the common working members of Canada. Not big business.

Also, it's not that I don't trust people who claim to have rich friends, but the last time they contacted me, a Nigerian Prince stole half of my savings.

There is nothing bad about NewfoundBrunswickScotiaIslandLand ...except for maybe the length, but that is what initials are for!

Island and Land are not 'technically' the same word.

Perhaps not if you're only looking at English but you've got to respect more than that if you're trying to combine four very different provinces with varying stubborn cultures each.

Umm. No, thank you. They'll answer just fine to being my Atlantic provinces. I don't really see the need to bundle them together any worse than that. Good... luck, though?
