Still, it will be good to have you for however long she's interested.

[Not that it matters to him, of course, except that she's useful. And she makes Hei behave in funny ways. And she's much better at petting than Hei is. In that she actually pets him.

But seriously, he doesn't care either way. He will prove that by licking himself.]

[She doesn't reply to that. Instead, she pets him, in that tentative, inexperienced way she has. It might be to show gratitude that he said anything like that.]

[He purrs. It's instinct, okay? And she's been getting better at it. Someday -- SOMEDAY -- she will be a cat petting expert.
