It still save a little on writing when you have more icons!

I'd like to think my mun isn't that lazy. The prospect of writing really shouldn't be all that daunting to, you know, an aspiring writer.

[He holds the chocolate bar between his teeth and raises a hand to his shoulder, massaging it like being here at all has taken some sort of great strain on his body.]

Somethin' about- [Then he grabs the chocolate so that he can talk without his voice being muffled.] -it being awkward to play out torture scenes when most of her icons have got me gnawing on chocolate?

[He frowns.]

Yeah, I'm real excited for all of that.

Maybe the torturers are gonna be nice and feed you while they torture you. I know in this one event I got to eat lots of candy even though I died!

Oh, well that makes it all worth it.

[The sarcasm drips off of his words like blood drips off of people in Animus. ~~Badoom-tsh.~~]

[And it's sarcasm that even Rei can catch.]

Everybody gets tortured there, though. And not everybody has bleeding icons to go with the torture.

It's all kind of pointless to talk about, anyway. [He cracks off another piece of chocolate.] Because I don't intend to let myself get tortured...

[He sounds pretty sure of himself. Hey, at least the kid's got hope!]

Really? What about your mun? What's she gonna say about that?

Knowing her? [He chews and swallows, then licks his lips.] She'll probably try to throw me into whatever sort of trouble she can get me into. I hope she realizes I'm not so impulsive that I'll run blindly into a bunch of bad situations like a moron.

[He'll only do that some of the time.]

[She giggles.]

Well, your faces already look funny enough. So they'd fit if you got into any trouble.

[He narrows his eyes.]

What's that supposed to mean?

[He shrugs. ]

Some people need to be prodded in the right direction. I'm not gonna baby them, if that's the case.

[He runs his tongue over the edge of his chocolate bar, giving his own little shrug.]

[Stop showing off your candy. Some people don't get candy you know.]

That is true but you can't lead a horse to water and prod them to drink if they don't want to. If they like icons why not let them have a bit of fun?

[She looks at him curiously.]

How so?

[That is not his problem. He won't deprive himself of something just because other people aren't lucky enough to have it.

On that note, he continues to leisurely lick the chocolate, softening and melting the edge of it.]

Don't get me wrong, she can do whatever she wants. I'm just not gonna listen to a bunch of whining if she can't find anything that's up to her precious standards, as if little 100x100 pictures really matter.

The more important issue here is that whole "grievous bodily harm" thing. On the list of stuff I'm not too thrilled about, that's close to being number one right now.

Everything about this situation is just plain stupid. I don't want to be running around in some tower run by madmen, where the high point of every day will be congratulating myself that I haven't gotten decapitated yet. I'd rather be working on catching Kira, and she knows this.

[Benefits of taking a muse from a canon point that isn't near the end of the series/right before their death? Motivation! Gotta make them even more upset that they're stuck somewhere and can't get out.]

[Rei's smile grow wider.]

[Mello's face goes through several changes in expression very quickly, one right after the other. First comes shock, then disbelief, followed up by some sort of cross between confusion and disgust.]

No! Definitely not. [Finally, he seems to settle on a good old-fashioned grimace.] Kira is a mass murderer, one that I'm trying to bring to justice. I was in the middle of working on the case when my mun - that's the "she" I was talking about - decided she wanted to drop me off in... What were all her stupid friends calling it? Tower Wonderfuck?

The point is, I'd sooner throw myself off a bridge than go on a date with Kira. [He mentally shudders at the mere thought of it.]

[She nods. She can't rule out the possibility that he's being a tsundere, but she'll take his word for it for now.]

[If he had a penny for every time he heard someone bring up Sherlock Holmes...

He snaps off a piece of chocolate with his fingers, licking this piece instead of biting it outright.]

Frankly, I'd like it more if you were one of those...oh, what was that show Toji like again? CIS? Those guys. Like you can kick down criminal doors and arrest them yourself.

[A smirk spreads over his face, and there's a glint in his eyes that's more than a little mischievous.]

[He just doesn't bother to do it lawfully, that's all.]

I don't know about riot shields, but guns and missiles? You bet.

[He pulls his pistol out of his... pants (Mello's not the best at gun safety, okay, leave him be), gripping it lightly and pointing it away from the both of them. It's not a cop's standard-issue 9mm, but rather, a sleek, shiny Desert Eagle. A cross necklace dangles from the handle.]

Freelance detectives like me have a lot more leeway than normal cops do.

[Yeah. "Freelance detective." Totally accurate term.]

[Rei hovers over him, looking at his gun.]

Wow, that's a really pretty model! How much can it blow away?

You're wasting your time if you think she's gonna stop worrying about showing off your face.

[She rolls her eyes. Oh, pretty boys, will you ever learn?]

Sounds like you're the idiot, here.

[Mello doesn't take too kindly to being called an idiot, no matter the circumstance. Annoyance is written all over his face.]

Tch. She wants to show off the faces I make when I'm in pain, so of course I'm gonna try to talk her out of it.

[Now, if it was just his normal expressions we're talking about, he could understand that. After all, he really can't blame anyone for wanting to look at him as much as they possibly can. But bloodied up and in pain? He doesn't see the need for all that. He's vain enough to think that he could survive in Animus without banging himself up too badly if he really put his mind to it.]

[He chuckles, looking over his gun fondly.]

Way more than any cop you'll ever meet, I can guarantee you that.

[Okay, so maybe he's bragging a little bit, but it isn't like he's ever tried to pretend he's modest.]

You'd probably need a lot to blow away all those monsters. Maybe one day we can see who can blow away more?
