Look, I don't have anything against magic personally -- and I've set aside my beef with my father. Actually saving the world is more important. But dumping a couple of levels into wizard or sorcerer or whatever bizarre hybrid I'm being asked to add is, first, not my style, and second, just weakens me.

First of all, there's min-maxing and there's just plain stupid. I'm a fierce advocate for cross-class skills and breadth rather that depth, but there's no denying that magical power scales geometrically.
