[Snow clenches her fists as she tries desperately to fight back frantic tears. He'd explained to her that it was for the sake of Henry's safety. But surely...surely there could have been some other way...]

Who is responsible for this? Were the possible consequences not fully considered?
[Up until now, she had been strong. Strong enough to overcome every single obstacle. But now, her armor has been damaged...an arrow shot right into the heart of her determination.]

No one should ever have to go through such an awful curse...[A pained whisper barely escapes her lips.]
Unable to wake up...-

[Her breath catches as a single tear breaks free, slipping slowly down her cheek...]
... I couldn't break it. I couldn't touch him.
[The heartbroken expression on her face only distorts, shaping into something far worse.]

[If only her arms could have wrapped around him...if only her lips could have touched his...

[She looks down at the little girl...who's quite frankly coming across as rude. She guesses that her parents didn't do good to teach her basic manners, and lets it go.]

No, but I'm going through something very difficult right now. [She gives the little girl a weak, insincere smile.]
I'll be fine. Sorry for disturbing you.

[She sighs, sitting down on a nearby stump to think things over. She desperately needs to figure out where to go from here.]

[Oh no, no way you're gettin' off that easy miss fancy pants. She smirks and stands a bit straighter before stepping closer, easily hopping up onto a rotten log just adjacent to the stump, holding out her arms to either side for balance.]

Somethin' difficult eh? Well eeeverybody goes through stuff like that, don't they? Sometimes they make it out fine, n'sometimes they don't, that's just how the game goes. You might win- Or you might get a big ol', FAT-

[She spreads her arms for emphasis, planting her feet on the log.]

I'm sorry, but I'll have to disappoint you there. I'm definitely not from a "video game." A world containing magic and ogres and dwarfs? Yes... A video game? Not so much.

[She tilts her head slightly, looking over at the little girl curiously. How had she figured that out so quickly?] Yes, I am a princess-
[She pauses for a moment.] ..but...it's complicated.

Oh really? [She laughs...not quite sure whether or not to take the child's dubious claim seriously.]

Are you sure? Cause any place with magic and dwarfs and stuff sounds like a game to me.

[She scoffs and shakes her head a little.]

I figured as much. S'not really that hard to tell- ...by th'way you talk- your husband's name being CHARMIN'? Aaand the fact that you've got that glazed look in yer eye of truuue loveee and all that junk.

[And at that she laughs a little and makes a gagging sound, pointing into her throat.]

And you better believe it! I'm the coolest ruler around to, as'a matter a fact.

[Snow laughs softly. This plucky girl definitely gets points for persistence.]

[She shakes her head, still watching the child as she jumps about energetically.]

You're quite intuitive for such a young girl, but you definitely don't seem to be the princess type... judging by the way that you speak. [She laughs, jokingly.] President is certainly a more fitting title.

[She knows that the girl doesn't want to hear it, but she teases anyway.]
There's a story behind it all, dear.
Perhaps one day, you'll make your own story...find your own true love. [She places a hand over her heart, exaggerating the statement as much as possible.]

Oh, I believe it. How could your people not pay attention to you?

Perhaps if you'd listened to my advice to Henry instead of cutting it off, you'd have benefited from it in this situation.

Perhaps you can justify speaking that way to someone a bit older. But Henry is only a child. Regardless of age, there's a level of respect that ought to be granted to everyone.
[She glares at the young girl..obviously not interested having this conversation.]

Really, now? I'm only three years older than him, and if someone had only told me what I told him when I was his age, I'd be very, very thankful for it now.

Of course, you're right. Whatever is happening in your own canon is not my concern. But perhaps your time in Forever After will help provide some relief or escapism for whatever it is that's troubling you.

[So this young girl has had a rough childhood...a bit of light is shed on the situation. She softens her tone a bit. Let the girl be a little rude if she wants. It's healthy to let it out, right?]

Perhaps you're right...but then again....you may have looked at things a whole lot differently then than you do now. Three years makes a world of difference. If not for you, then definitely for someone else. [Having been a teacher for years, she knows children well. Henry in particular.]

[If the girl had succeeded at one thing, it was getting Snow's mind to drift slightly away from her troubles.]

Why, that almost sounded like a word of encouragement?
[She smirked slighly, not at all intending to be rude...merely speaking to her in jest.]

(OOC: I don't believe that they've officially met in Forever After yet? If not, then perhaps their first meeting will go a bit smoother this time. XD)

[She nods. It seems that the girl is intentionally blocking out her advice. The poor thing has a thick wall built up, that much is certain. She almost reminds her of some of her former students from Storybrooke...or maybe Grumpy. Yep. That was it. Snow tries to hide a smile.]

[She sighed, shrugging her shoulders. This conversation was obviously not going to go anywhere fast.]

Well, I've got work to do if I'm going to figure out how to get home. [She whispers to herself.] I have to break that curse..

[Emma didn't know what to do. She didn't know exactly what to say that would make things better. Granted, considering what had happened, she doubt anything that came from her mouth would be able to console her mother. But she had to try. It's what Snow had been doing this whole time for Emma, right? Saying things to keep their hopes up. Always finding a way to cheer their spirits. She had to do the same for Snow now, anything to get her to relax a little. Even just the slightest bit.]

[Calmly, Emma took Snow's hand.]

Listen to me. David will be fine. [Old habits die hard.] He wouldn't have done something so reckless without having a plan, right?

Besides, with his help, we can get what we need to defeat Cora, and then we'll be home. And just like he saved you, you can save him, with true love's kiss.

So please, Snow, just hold on a little bit longer. Because believe me, if there's one thing you two are good at, it's finding your way back to each other.

[At the unexpected touch of her daughter's hand, time seems to slow down. Obviously distraught, Snow turns to meet Emma's piercing gaze. The expression on her face and the tears forming in her eyes were the true embodiment of her heartbreak... It takes a few moments, but as she listens to Emma speak, it's as if a switch goes off in her mind.

Emma.
Snow is rather astonished to hear this coming from her daughter so sudden and sure...but Emma's words grab her in a way that no one else's could have...]

[She gathers her composure, squeezing her daughter's hand tight.]
You're right, Emma. [She closes her eyes...taking a deep breath as a tear rolls quickly down her cheek.]

Surely he has another plan. [Though she is terrifyingly unsure. She chooses to believe this for the time being..As far as Charming not being thoughtlessly reckless...she isn't so sure. That is what worries her the most.] But I don't know...people do crazy things for the sake of love..

[At Emma's last statements, Snow couldn't help but smile fondly...it lit her heart on fire to see Emma this way. Such a fierce determination that hadn't been there before. At that moment, she truly saw a bit of herself in her daughter.]

I know what we need to defeat Cora and where we need to go to find it.
