Dark magic. My mun tells me that it means the heart can be taken, and stored until the one who took it wishes to use it to control that person. If the heart is crushed- that is when the person dies.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as dark magic. Just magic. As far as the controlling thing goes, yes, that sounds like a classic zombie.

Oh there's a lot of ways to deal with zombies.

Well, you can crush them, burn them, freeze them, melt them, dismember them and many other things. Though a bullet to the head or decapitation is the best way to get rid of the undead.

Of course, if you can, I would suggest trying to find a way to control them. Which would be even better.
