Sometimes we don't get to choose the relationships in our lives, Lydia. This connection, it was meant to be for a moment. You're unique though, different. We can't help the relationships we have.

[ but a distinctive yes is resounding in the back of her mind. just as much as lydia adores being secretively intelligent, she hates being so broadly left out of things. she's not even sure if she's left out of pack dynamics because she's immune to bites or out of friends dynamics because she can't shoot a bow like allison and everyone needs weapons training, a furry problem or a jeep right now to function in this society they've got here. ]

If you truly believe you want to be blind and stupid to it all, maybe there's a reason they leave you out of things.

Lydia, I know you want them to be good people but they're not. You have to accept that.

They could be varying shades of grey and still not bad.

It doesn't make them good either. Not in how they treated you.

Because you treat me so much better, right? [ last she remembered, none of her friends had tried to kill her -...oh. well there was that whole thing with the wolf pack outside the house, but they'd never really been her friends. and who knew, perhaps making attempts on her life was just a hale family trait. ]

I have tried to make amends. How much of their subterfuge nearly got you killed?

No. If I wanted that I would go away and let it happen. What I'm doing is wanting you to see the truth, that I'm not entirely the bad guy.

You've never given me any reason to think you're a nice guy, either. If this wonderful eye-opening experience is your attempt at being decent, you really need to work on it.
