Mun, just because I chose a desk job doesn't mean I'm giving up. I'm still on the list if needed for field work, I've just found someplace that I'm more needed. The field has 007, but the brain and the legs can't work without the nervous system. I believe in M like I believe in James Bond, and if Bond tells me to get him a drink...

well, I can always remind him that I can hit my target, or I can choose not to.

[ rather stiffly: ] There is just as much nobility to be found in a desk job as there is in a job out in the field. As you say — you've simply found a place you're a much better fit for, and I commend you for it. Lords knows there are a few people out there that could do with such self-awareness.

I find fun to be rather relative in the first place, but I suppose you can argue it doesn't get the adrenaline pumping quite as easily as field work does, yes. [ forgive him; his disdain for field agents just bleeds into his opinions far too often. ]

For what it's worth, Miss Moneypenny, I happen to find your work with M to be quite pertinent.

You might find that you like it, that adrenaline rush of being in the field. Though in your case being in the field would more likely mean sitting in the back of a van with short range cameras.

As for my job, I'm more than happy to be the glue that holds command and the rest of MI6 together. If that means I need to be a buffer between Bond and M, then so be it.
