Mun can't stop giggling

No, I'm not amused. Your track record with your other 'sassy armored space ladies' doesn't instill me with a lot of hope for you, either. You want to impress me? Leave me alone and let me do my job. You're worse than the eggheads.

Eggheads aren't all that bad. Don't get me wrong, they're jackasses. But not that bad.

Considering that my 'hubby' kinda went off the deep end after Reach and took a Spartan performance-enhancement experiment and turned it into a weird attempt to bring back the dead, going so far as to make his team attack UNSC bases to keep them from blowing his cover? I think you hit the nail on the head there.

Still... can't say I'd like the alternative.

Well, for one, the lack of eggheads all together would mean no Spartans, no defenses against the Covenant, or the like. We'd have been fighting Covies with swords and shields.

Secondly, yeah he went kinda crazy, but he's a good man at heart. Project Freelancer perfected the interface between Spartan armor and AI, allowing for exponential upgrades in armor ability usage.

[personal profile] lonestar_noble 2012-11-17 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Freelancer was just getting off the ground when Reach fell. Took him a couple weeks to find out about that, and between Reach and budget cuts keeping him from really fully exploring the capabilities of AI in Spartan armor, he kinda... snapped.

I won't make excuses for him or what he did. But at the same time, he's the father of my daughter.

Would it help if I said she was about twenty when the Covies became a real threat? Before the war, the Spartans were allowed a bit more freedom.

[Not going to mention that the kid is a second-gen Spartan and one hell of a badass in her own right. Give her an excuse, though, and she won't shut up about Carolina.]

At first, they were. Halsey had us all on a short leash. But, as we aged and the project grew, more and more people were brought in to help study and augment us, and whatever. With more people, comes more slip ups. From day one, we were taught we were to be super soldiers. We were rewarded for finding any kind of security lapse.

Some would just point it out - I think that would've been Chief's department. Me? I exploited the shit out of 'em. I could disappear for weeks at a time, and that was before my Active Camo training.

AWOL is such a strong word. I prefer 'undercover recon missions.'

Hey, there's a reason I was assigned to Noble Team. I had a reputation for not playing well with others, and they hoped Noble could make a respectable soldier out of me.

If you replace "eggheads" with Covenant.

Not yet. I'm a new 'muse' he says, even if he's been wanting to give me a go for quite a while. Wants to try getting more comfortable with me first.

Yours?

You wouldn't be a Spartan if you did.
spaceracist: (you can't be serious)

[personal profile] spaceracist 2012-11-17 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Can't be that bad, can they?
spaceracist: (any last words?)

[personal profile] spaceracist 2012-11-17 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that. It's about time I got a damn break from them and back to fighting where I belong. Ain't too much of that in games.

Hear you get to be the voice on the radio most of the time. Boring?

[Emile grunts, which from him is a sign of acknowledgment.]

Every team needs a Commander. Just hope you don't lose most of yours like we did.

[...You know, like all the other Alphas (excepting maybe Jun).]

Course, it helps if they actually like you. You get to exist for real. [They were only ever just ghosts.]
spaceracist: (ready to stab some covvies)

[personal profile] spaceracist 2012-11-17 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

[At least they had left a mark. Not that Emile ever doubted it, but knowing there even were something called Spartan-IVs out there is worth a lot, actually.]

Well, you need help, you know you can count on me - least in this place.
spaceracist: (will-o-wisp)

Tell Kat I'll be there soon as I can. Been too long.

... My writer says he wanted to call you "eggheads_everywhere".

[Daisy doesn't recognize the Spartan nor the armor -No. She does, but this woman reminds the Chief Petty Officer far too much to a friend in Luceti-. Is it one of the III's?]

Have we met, ma'am?
