You misunderstand, sir. There is no insubordination -- just a matter of opinion and regard, for my mun. Captain Redfield treats his soldiers with respect and vice versa.

Bioterrorism is warfare where the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, toxins or other harmful agents are used to cause illness or death in people, animals, or plants. That's the standard definition, but it gets more complicated than that. Really complicated.

[He shakes his head. Better to not open that can of worms just yet.]

For example, rather than shoot someone, blow up a building, or sabotage a supply line, a bioterrorist will infect his or her enemies with a disease like...

[Piers looks the man over, taking note of his attire and demeanor.]

Well. [And that's all he has to say at first. It's actually a lot for him to take in, interesting as it is.] To think warfare has taken such a drastic turn.

And how do the assailants intend to control such diseases? Illness attacks without warning, nor regard for your standing. The number of civilian casualties must be remarkable.

You're right about illness, which is why we've got the backing of the best doctors and scientists in the world. Most antibodies and cures are available pretty quickly. Most, anyway.

[He flinches a little, remembering being briefed on the catastrophic details of the T- and G-viruses, Las Plagas. No cures or antibodies there. Then there's also the B.O.W.s...]

The assailants are usually your run-of-the-mill nihilistic types or those with god complexes. They simply don't care if they've released something out of control that can kill people in droves. In some cases, they even infect themselves.

[Piers shrugs. Yeah, he doesn't get it either.]

I've found that meme-hopping tends to be less of a commitment than a full-time game, at least. More quick laughs and less life-altering events.

I can see the appeal of memes. I don't mind them -- most of them, anyway. It's just the ones my Mun tends to throw me in...

I try and sometimes I'm successful. Other times, not so much. My Mun tends to suffer from the 'Ooh shiny' effect, so there you have it.

[Although "worried" is just putting it lightly, Jill. Piers is downright fearful of what might happen to Chris if he continues on such a downward spiral.]

He insists he's fine and -- well, I'm sure you know what else he tends to do and say.

[She glances aside, nodding more slowly after a moment.]

It's... not easy to watch, I understand. Chris has always been pretty good about bouncing back on his own time; it's probably not easy giving up a habit that's gotten him through as much as it has. [Especially considering how stubborn he is.

Then, with a little more open concern,] Has he been in any real danger lately?

Wouldn't be him if he wasn't. But, no.

[And he's thankful for that. Quite thankful, as evidenced by his deep sigh of relief.]

He's been safe. I've made sure of that.
