[Remus smiles in what he hopes is a disarming way.]

They tend not to listen when we do that. Not that they listen much anyway, but---

[He shrugs, deciding to steer clear of the subject by jumping to a new one.]

[The voice and his appearance are...familiar. Very familiar. So familiar, in fact, that she pauses and gives him a quizzical look.]

House Elves are a calling of mine, you could say. I have been promoting their rights since I was in school.

[Remus cannot say the same, unfortunately. In fact, he's never seen Hermione before in his life, so the quizzical stare is a bit concerning. He rubs absently at a faint scar beneath his ear, before quickly dropping his hand as to not draw anymore attention to it.]

[He smiles faintly, offering her a look of quiet approval.]

Quite a noble one as well. It's not often you see someone stand by such an...unpopular conviction, no matter how right or just it is.

[He likes this girl already. She's got the courage to stick up for something she believes in, despite how controversial the subject is.]
