Are you looking to see if there are opponents you can fight, where I am? Heh... there's a whole range of beings where I am. Some are pathetic, some look like they'd put up a decent fight, some have crazy powers, none that have to do with Devil Fruits... we've even had some near-god-like figures in this crazy place.

[He paused, then frowned some more. What if that made Zoro want to COME there, to Nautilus? No... No, damn it! He wasn't about to see any of his crewmates come there, and learn their lives back home had all been fake... that their dreams could be all for naught. He wouldn't allow that. Sanji placed his foot back down on the ground, straightened his shoulders, and scoffed.]

It's mostly quiet, though... People are mostly all chummy-chummy with each other... or indifferent. Not many that interested in fighting. You'd find it horribly boring, Marimo.

God like figures, eh?

But the abrupt switch in Sanji's tone gets Zoro's attention and he's really not fooling anyone. Saying it's quiet? Relaxing his guard? He is hiding something.Obviously he doesn't want Zoro to come. Maybe it's because something terrible is there.]

Unaware that their world was a 'dream', their fates already all set out for them... nothing you could do to change it. He didn't want them Waking... feeling how fake it felt, when you returned back home... possibly facing the end of their dreams. There was no world to map, no Grand Line to sail, no One Piece to claim.]

Here in this dear_mun place was the only place he found them! ~~(outside of 1-on-1 LJ RP, but that's another journal, another 'reality', and another 'character' entirely.)~~ For a moment, his desire to take any bit of comfort in the presence of any of his nakama was nearly overwhelming, but he shoved it down, convincing himself he was protecting them, damn it... protecting them from having their dreams shattered.]

[Sanji glanced back over at Zoro, then smirked.] It takes a lot of mental fortitude to Bend... which means I guess that leaves you out. [Actually, that was a lie, and it took great strength of will to Bend, which meant - if he allowed himself to be HONEST with himself - Zoro would actually be a pretty good Bender... because aside from Luffy - before meeting ANY of the Straw Hats, really - he hadn't met many other people with such strong will. But he teased, he prodded... this was just their WAY. And, maybe, if he could annoy Zoro enough, he'd forget about what he'd been talking about. A guy could hope, after all.]

Sanji had no idea how Zoro would take that, and he didn't want to find out.]

After the cigarette was lit, he blew out a stream of smoke, then glanced away again, still not willing to look Zoro in the face.] I'm the only one of us there. The only one from our whole world there, as far as I can tell... and I've been the only one for about a month short of a year, now. I can... I can COPE. I can DEAL with it. If it means none of you have to come here, either.

[He paused, then finally looked at Zoro, his gaze serious.] When you Wake... 'home' doesn't feel real again. You can go back home, but it feels like you're just a puppet in your own body. You have no more control over yourself. You can only just sit and WATCH everything play out in front of you. Your entire life's already been written, from start to finish, and you can't change it. You Ascend enough, you have the power to influence the world, but if you DO... you risk corrupting the world. Causing a flaw. The world would break. I don't really know what would happen, but I'm told it's bad. We in Nautilus... those that Ascend, at least... are supposed to fix the flaws, not cause them.

[He sighed, tapping some ash off his cigarette, and scuffed his toe against the ground, then looked back up at Zoro.] Once you Wake up, you're aware that 'this' is the "real" world... and our home is the dream. Our lives were fake... not real. Which means everything we've struggled for... Sure, they made us who were ARE, but... [He paused, winced, then shook his head a little. He ground his teeth together, a hand clenching into his fist.] We have no more freedom, back home. Our lives aren't really our OWN anymore, back there. And here... [He sucks in a breath, then continues.] Sure, you can make whatever you want appear just by thinking it, but... There's no All Blue. There's no One Piece. ... There's no "Greatest Swordsman". Do you hear what I'm saying, Zoro?

The words rang true, and cut through all possible rebuttals of his, cut through all his pre-built arguments. Damn it, Zoro was just too good at cutting.
