This is me being good. Do you understand?

This is me being as good as I know how, and it is taking everything that I posses to do so. Everything that I am, everything I will ever be, revolves around this effort, and you would strip it away for something as meaningless and insignificant as a game.

The problem with death before dishonour, dear mun, is that eventually everyone ends up either dead or dishonoured, and no one can say I got them in the wrong order. Eternity is a long time to be haunted by regrets.

Your pain, so potent and so poetic, is passing. I've lived with mine for centuries.

You are a better human than I can ever hope to aspire; when you fall, do not imagine, even for a moment, that we all do not stumble as well. My shallow heart strives towards humanity, because you play me, and you possess more than is written on my sheet. So this is me being good.

Because being good means worrying about how other people feel. It means putting someone else, anyone else, ahead of your anger and ahead of your sorrow. It means having pity, and having mercy, and somehow letting go. Revenge is beneath you.

And some day, God willing, it will be beneath me as well.
