If he'd killed you it would have had little to do with any threats he'd made before that. It would probably mean that the idea amused him at that moment.

Perhaps so. It doesn't mean you ought to believe anything they say. Not even death threats. You're as safe ignoring it all as you'll ever be consorting with Daedra.
