Yes and no. Mostly no, really. To make a long, complex story short, things came to a very unpleasant head between the Templars and the Circle, there was a bit of a blow-up at the Chantry, and Meredith and Orsino forced me to side with one of them. After a lot more unpleasantness, the Gallows was in ruins, the rest of Kirkwall wasn't far behind, and as there was truly nothing left for either of us there, we left.

[Should he be sorry? It's difficult not to be happy about the gallows being destroyed. Although he cares about Hawke, so there's that.]
