That's real sweet, Miss Mun. I get it.

But just stop a minute and give it some thought, would you? It doesn't matter where you decide to take me. Hell, put me in a jaunty mask and strap a goddamn sword to my belt: it won't help. I'm still short a bottle of morphine and a pair of working legs, and no change of setting is going to fix that.

Who is this mun? Part of story with the bandit? She must be beautiful. I get medicine and you tell story to me.

[ She nods, giving a winning smile. ]

you are perfect.

[blackbandit]

Forget the medicine. [ And he draws in a silent breath, his gaze slipping away from hers, settling over her shoulder instead. That's the funny thing about guilt: maybe it quiets over time, but it never really leaves. ] Besides — we finished the story, didn't we?

[ She doesn't know much about this guilt thing, but when she looks up at Roy, she only offers him a toothy smile. ]

Then you tell me new story. With beautiful mun in it, and more bandits!

[blackbandit]

Hey, am I telling the story, or are you? [ Even so, it's difficult to grip onto the negativity when you've got a tiny little girl grinning at you. Roy tilts his head back, a grin of his own curling across his face. ] I think we should start with pirates this time. A shipful of the nastiest, angriest pirates that ever sailed the ocean blue.

[tinybandit]

But I like the story.

[ She stares up at him, and may or may not be chewing on a playing card she found along the way. ] Do they have big ship? The pirates?

[blackbandit]

[ Roy reaches over to tug gently at the edge of the playing card. Not that he's all that worried about how sanitary it is for a kid to be chewing on a card she probably found lying on the ground, but... she's starting to drool. ]

Yeah. A giant ship, bigger than this entire hospital. They even had a pool set into the top deck — so they could stage practice runs of walking people off the plank. It takes finesse, you know.

[tinybandit]

[ The card falls from her mouth but she picks it right back up, grinning a crinkly little grin and squinting up at him. ]

But it is storming, so how can they be in a pool if it is raining? And is there a hospital on the ship? A hospital like ours?

[ Alexandria has taken the story into her own mind already, watching him with wild curiosity. ]
