The sisters had a saying that you may find useful, Mundane:
"From patience and great effort do all things worth having come."
It's without frills, but the meaning holds true. [A small, rueful smile.]
That said, if it is your duty as a student to do research, then you must do so without sparing me a second thought. To do one's duty is the highest good a person can do, and even a duty to complete one's thesis is no less worthy of dedication than is the safekeeping of a city.
You needn't worry for me. What I want is not yet within the reach of my hand, but I will work hard and do what I can to become worthy of it. It is your task to do the same.
