Basically the avatar is supposed to be the spirit of our planet, born as a human. The job of the avatar is to keep the elements and nations in balance. But there's a catch, when the avatar dies, they get reborn and it just kind of cycles on and on. Right now, that'd be me. After me? Well, I really don't want to think about it.

[If part of this sounds like she's reciting from a lecture? She probably is.]

That's part of the problem, the way this is going to work there won't be anything to have wait. Where I'm from, everything I've gone through, it won't have happened. I'll be me, but a different me.

It's just hard to imagine me any other way. For most of my life I've been defined by being the avatar. Take that away and there's not really a lot left.
