You don't have to wear flannel, or wide-rimmed glasses, or drink awful beer, that's hardly point of the argument. This about you being part of an intellectual, artistic culture which, while admittedly pretentious and often mired more in a ridiculous fashion statement than anything else, is hitting a little close to home because all you can apparently see is the negative aspect.
