Y'know, waitin' ain't half so bad as you seem to think it is. It gives you a little time to sit and relax before things really get going, and from what I've seen of this new place, well...

We're gonna need a little rest before startin' in there. I understand why you picked it and all, but I'm shiny just waitin'. And not being eaten by a house.

But at least River's there, right? Won't be alone, neither of us, and that's better than facing the creepy gorram house of doom by our lonesome.

Oh! And, on a side note, a very happy anniversary to us. Ten years flies by when you ain't lookin', don't it?

[Oops, Fen's fear of the dark just went up tenfold. Oh sure, the dark (or whatever he imagines to be in it) might eat him, but now he'll be picturing the house doing it instead.]

Well... Not the house itself so much. It sounds like we're only locked in the house without a way out. But from what I've been hearin', the occupants ain't so friendly.

Ugh. I wouldn't do so well with that. Better if I can come and go, hide out in trees for a while. [So he still does that. It's not weird. Much.]

I guess you've got some way to defend yourself though? Magic, or maybe just a good old baseball bat? [Though Fen would opt for 'Kill it with Fire' first.]

That's the part that's a bit tricky for me. Not much of one for fightin', but I guess I'll have to learn something. [ Maybe whacking them in the head with a wrench will work out? ]

I'm okay with a sword - I was taught how to use one growing up, but I never really liked it. More comfortable with my magic. But yeah, until you've learned something, hit 'em with whatever you've got.

[Like rocks. Or books. Heavy books will drive away even the most insistent cousin-demons.]

A sword? Not many people use swords anymore. And...magic's gotta be some kinda good, I guess. Dependin' on where you're from.

[ There should be a good set of books somewhere in the house, and they do have some good uses outside of reading... ]

My family does. It's something that's been passed down. Not just swords, other weapons too, but like I said.

[He shrugs a little. He's good enough, but just not that interested.]

Stuff like fire, ice, and shield spells come in handy with the monsters we see from time to time.

What sorts'a monsters do you see, then?

Eh, big hairy/feathery things with claws, horns, sharp teeth...the usual.

[Except it's probably not usual for other people here, which he forgets sometimes.]

Some of 'em are magic-resistant though, which kind of sucks. Not to everything, but some spells. If you're not carrying a weapon, best thing to do in those cases is just run. They tend to stay out of the cities for the most part, at least.
