[Perhaps surprisingly, that actually makes Aggie let out a little laugh, watching Morty stumble around in a rather silly way with Gengar on his head. To her, what Gengar actually did didn't seem mean at all. It reminds her of something like when you run up to a friend and give them a big surprise hug. It looks like Morty and Gengar must be really good friends.]

[Laughing is good, and Gengar grins before helping Morty fix his headband and hopping off his shoulders. Morty's grinning, too, and glances down at Gengar.]

You were planning that, weren't you?

[Gengar just shrugs and winks at Aggie.]

[She giggles again, when Gengar jumps off and winks at her. He must be nice after all.]

You seem like really great friends.

[Morty laughs a little and reaches down to ruffle... well, it might be Gengar's hair, or just the spiky stuff between its ears.]

We've been together a really long time; I met him when we were both kids. A lot of my family's worked with ghosts.

[Well, only Morty and the others in his family who can see ghosts, she thinks he means. Other Prenderghasts besides her had her "gift" as well.
After all, someone had to read to her every year... for three whole centuries.]

Hm? No, it's just that it's sort of a thing. Some families where I'm from are like that - I have a friend in Violet City whose entire family trains birds. He inherited his from his dad.

[He's skirting around the whole concept of Pokemon, mostly because he doesn't want to have to explain it to a ghost he's pretty sure can't be much more than ten.]

[That happens to be what her eleven-year-old (or perhaps technically three hundred eleven-year-old, though not much growth happens in death) mind puts together from what Morty implies, since affiliating with ghosts is fairly different from affiliating with birds. At least it is where she comes from. She doesn't yet have any way of being aware how similar the two practices are in Morty's world.]
