Well, um...
Books are really great. They have pages inside them, and the author writes words onto the pages, to tell a story.
Actually, books can tell you anything. But I like to read the ones with stories the most.
Especially if they have happy endings.

But I don't--
[She suddenly realizes she has a book in her hands. Wait, she wasn't holding his before. Where'd it come from?]
H-Huh...?
[She looks at the book, and then back at the odd-looking boy she's still under the impression is a ghost like her.]

The ghosts she spoke to when she was alive usually didn't want to hear her read. This ghost boy must be different, and surely a ghost, because there's clearly no other explanation to what he could be that would make the tiniest bit of sense.
She sits in front of him and opens the book, this book which she's never seen before, and starts reading aloud. Looks like she'll be getting a new story too.]

The boy was very smart, and loved adventure. He was brave and determined, and paid close attention to things a lot of other people did not. Because of this, he was good at solving riddles and mysteries, even better than most of the grown-ups.
The girl was full of energy, and always looked on the bright side. She was outgoing and curious, and loved to wear colorful sweaters. Some people thought she was silly, but she was always happy, and had fun while trying to help everyone she could.
One fateful summer, their mommy and daddy sent the boy and girl to live up north with their great uncle, in a strange and magical town called Gravity Falls...

I'm glad you like the story so far! I think I like it too.
[She clears her throat and goes back to reading.]
Their great uncle lived in a cabin in the woods, which he had turned into a museum of weird things. People came from all over to see the many wonders at their great uncle's house, but he insisted to the boy and the girl that it was all make-believe. That there was nothing weird in Gravity Falls, and that it was a perfectly normal little town.
But one day, while the boy was hanging up signs for his great uncle's museum in the forest, he found something very unusual. It was a false, hollowed-out tree, with an odd metal box inside of it. The boy flipped several switches and pushed many buttons on the metal box, when suddenly, a tiny hidden door opened on the ground. In this secret compartment, the boy found a book. A book with a six-fingered hand, and the number "3" on the cover...
