Do you really think a good cup of coffee is all it takes to keep me occupied?
Worth a try, but I'm afraid I'm getting a little restless here. Explorer, remember?
What now?

I say it tastes like heaven, others claim that it's an acquired taste. You're welcome to stop by and give it a try yourself.

I don't know.

[She explains her idealistic view and smiles at him in the hopes of gaining some trust with her approach. The Klingon child is not familiar to her, or maybe it will still take a few nudges to trigger any realizations.]
How about a little exchange? [A challenge now, to see how he will handle that.] I invite you to your first cup of fresh coffee and you tell me about yourself and all the things your father has explored.

You want me to try some coffee and tell you about myself and my father? Hm, I'm not sure. I barely know you. [He could see she was with Starfleet so....she couldn't be that bad, right?]
Alright. But first, let us introduce each other. I'm Alexander.

It's good to met you, Alexander. I'm Kathryn, an explorer just like your father... and I assure you, I mean you no harm.
[She keeps offering him an encouraging smile, then points to a replicator and motions him to follow her.]
Let me hold up my end of the bargain first, then you can still decide whether or not you want us to get to know each other. Tell me... do you like your drinks sweet?

I'm not sure. I've never had a sweet drink. My father often gives me blood wine to try. It's quite bitter but I do like it. [He smiled up at her.]
Kathryn? You're in Starfleet, aren't you? I can tell by your uniform.

[Oh, the horror stories she had heard of and actually witnessed involving that Klingon brew. She sounds surprised that he had already made acquaintance with it, given his age, but she gives him a firm nod of approval as if to admire his resistance and bravery for toughing it out.]
You're even tougher than me, young man! [She keeps up her jolly act and mirrors his smile.] And I'm supposed to be the captain around here... Starfleet it is!

You're the Captain? I only thought men could become Captain. [Maybe in Klingon ships.] The Captain on the Enterprise is Captain Picard.
