So… what? No plans, no papers, just pull me out of thin air and see what you can do with me?

I’m almost – kind of – impressed. All right, then. It’s not like I had ~~any coin~~ a place to be anyway. Just don’t get me eaten by trolls or... Stormcloaks or what have you.

*~~If only because human flesh is bad for your health. Literally.~~ In any case, the Khajiit is joking and shows it with a sharp-toothed grin. Of note is he sounds like he was raised somewhere other than Elsweyr - he has as much of a Cyrodiilic accent as a Khajiiti mouth can make.*

[He perks right up at the sound of an accent from home and returns the grin.]

Are you sure? That's about the only tale I haven't heard yet. 'Course, you know how it is - you ask for a drink and it's everyone's cue to play 'bait the Imperial boy'.

*Ma'sud's grin fades and he tilts his head a bit, an ear drooping slightly.*

I wouldn't say hard. [Not over that, anyway.] Just a few tall tales instead of honest rumour. And, let's be fair, I told them there's a giant troll-eating slaughterfish in the Niben Bay.

Anyway, I don't expect Skyrim's that welcoming for you, either. What's brought you so far north? Are you a trader?

I'm a wanderer, for the most part. I started out adventuring in Cyrodiil and...*shrug* went north.

Same here. Although I didn't have so far to come - I started out in Bruma. It's only been a few weeks since I got through Helgen.

Helgen, huh? So you could unlock those gates?

*Unless he'd managed to come through after he had already unlocked them... He honestly wasn't surprised bandits had made camp in the ruins.*

...No, some rather stiff-necked officials let me in and checked my papers.

A couple of months. [He scratches his chin.] Let's see... about five days since Rorikstead... would have been the 9th of Morning Star, last I checked. I crossed over back in Sun's Dusk.

[And the news about Helgen's little more than a week old, slow to catch up with him.]

Why? Have they closed the border completely?

Well, no. You've seen the dragons flying around, right? Hopefully from a distance. One of them destroyed it...specifically the one who's responsible for bringing them back in the first place.

[He laughs.] Dragons? I must have missed those. But I'll keep an eye out.

[Aaaand then he pauses, expression shifting to bemusement.]

It's...some time in First Seed, for me. *The days can blur together when you're traveling underground.*

Trust me, I couldn't believe my eyes at first, either, and he was right in front of me.

They'll be more common later. The one bringing them back...well, I've tried, but he takes my arrows like they're needles. So I can't stop them from returning.

You're really serious. [Still stuck on that - give him a minute.]

So dragons aren't extinct, and they've destroyed Helgen. And you're running around trying to personally stop one from calling his friends back.

Brave? No, I just...someone needs to do it, and when one comes at me on the road, I'm the only one who can. I've learned how to fight dragons well enough I thought I could defeat him when he appeared above Rorikstead.
