Well, I can't say I've seen a single "mundane" who possesses an intellect that approaches an impressive level - rather fitting name for them all, I suppose - but let's not make assumptions. I'm sure there are plenty of pairs out there with both incompetence from one side and difficulty from the other.

Or at least, let's not make baseless generalizations. Is she at least trying? I do think participation prizes exist for a reason, though especially with these people one might want to hand them out more sparingly.

Oh, I don't want to encourage her, she'll get ideas, which would be fine if they stayed in her head but they have an unfortunate tendency not to. Besides, I don't want her cluttering up the place if I'm supposed to be taking up a fairly permanent residence in it. No, I think a hearty "good effort" and sending her on her way should suffice.

Not enough people telling them to stop, I suppose. It's likely that since they're all in the same circle, they'd enjoy it from each other, and fail to realise that others might not enjoy it quite so much. Thinking that the world is the same all over, what a truly dull perception.
