[The girl's gum chewing is simply obnoxious. Every couple of seconds she blows a large, pink bubble which she pops and, like the champion gum chewer she is, make sure that none of the gum sticks to her face.]

Are you ever going to explain why I'm not blue?

[No. Shut up and chew your gum.]

[She scowled, but continued chewing.]

You know, people are going to want to know.

[Violet stares at the boy for a second, blowing another bubble and popping it before she speaks.]

...Do I look like I want to talk about it?

[tattling]

...well, I dunno. I'm not sure what that looks like. Are you supposed to hold up a sign saying so?

...No. I meant that I don't want to talk about it.

[tattling]

Oh.

Well, you should say so.

[gumchewer]

I did, you just didn't understand it.

[She blows another gum bubble and pops it.]

[ Franklin crosses his arms grumpily. ]

Are you gonna offer me any gum or what?

[gumchewer]

No, I'm not giving you any of my gum.

Besides, I don't have any more.

[And somehow, she's completely unaware of how bad a thing to say that was.]

[Probably because the mun couldn't find any good blue icons and is bad at editing.]

So... Have you seen any of the others?

[She blows a bubble and pops it.]

[She's still not happy with that. She had awful icons for a while, so she thinks that's a pretty lame excuse.

She rolls her eyes at the other girl, outwardly sighing.]

No. [But she thinks on it.] Well there are those other three in mun's headspace, but everyone's really tired except for Mike. [Who won't shut up until Violet snaps at him.]

[Bubbles, huh? She makes a slightly disgusted face, obviously not happy with that.]

[Mike being the one Violet never talked with. Either that or the fat one, she kinda forgot about those two.]

[She blows a bubble and pops, as if to prove a point.]

[Veruca, Mike and Augustus, yes. Charlie's been asleep- along with her dad actually.]

Were you even scared at all?!

[That happens- that scary, nightmarish event- and this girl can be so darn happy about it. Violet's not happy at that to say the least; why did this her get it so easy? She only wanted to try something new, add something else she's done to her life achievements, make her dad pay attention to her...

She honestly doesn't think she deserved it; a mixture of denial and fear makes her a little bitter about it all.]

[Violet stares for a moment, thinking of what to say next.]

Scared? I'm not scared of anything. I'm not a loser.

[She's lying, of course. She was terrified when she was a blueberry. Terrified and angry - angry at herself mostly. Angry because she lost and not only that, she lost while doing the one thing that made her a champion: chewing gum]

[She doesn't believe you! She can't believe you! You don't look very brave- you act it, but she knows how to act tough too; after all, they're both technically the same person, derived from a single character; some characteristics are bound to be similar. It doesn't take someone smart to figure that out, just like Violet has.

She could understand the anger, understand the fear. It was a horrible fiasco, but pretending you weren't scared of it won't do anything.]

Get real! There's no way you weren't scared of that!

[gumchewer]

I told you, I'm not scared of anything! I'm a champion and champions aren't afraid of anything.

[She was mostly afraid of how her mother would react if she knew that she was afraid of something. She wouldn't like it if she knew that Violet wasn't over the whole thing and was honestly very afraid of the whole incident.]

You're lying!

[She doesn't usually get so pushy or angry, but this subject... This her has to say she's scared, she needs to face it, she needs to learn that lesson or it might happen again and no one needs to go through anything that frightening.]

[gumchewer]

Why would I lie about it?

[She certainly does not want to talk about this any longer. After all it really did scare her and she didn't want to bring up bad memories.]

Let's talk about something else.

No! I won't change the subject until you admit it! That freak-show did scare you!

[Sorry, but she's determined and she doesn't back down, even now.

If this Violet gets to not be scared and not be blue, she'll be mighty pissed... with herself mostly. She was meant to be a winner.]

[gumchewer]

[Well, she obviously isn't going to relent... and it's hardly a big thing if you tell yourself that you're scared. Violet lowers her voice and whispers.]

Fine. I was scared. Now can we please not talk about it?

[blueberried]

[She sighs again, this time of actual childish relief.]

Was that so bad?

[She's still a winner, even though they both ultimately lost.]

Yeah, we can quit it.

[gumchewer]

Yes. It was.

[She blows another bubble and pops it in an attempt to keep up her appearance as a champion. Though she did take comfort in the fact that she wasn't blue.]

Good. So, why did you stop chewing gum?

[blueberried]

'Don't trust it. [Or any Wonka products, mind you.]

[gumchewer]

I don't chew Wonka gum either.

[Probably because the piece she's been working on for months isn't a Wonka product. Again, she blows and pops a bubble.]

I know why you still got that, y'know?

[TIME TO MAKE YOURSELF DOMINANT BY BEING INTELLECTUAL. Violet, basic empathy isn't intellectual.]

But you can't be a winner if you already lost.

[Violet stares at the other her for a moment.]

I'm still a winner. You're just jealous because you're too afraid of gum to keep winning.

[Violet's ego is very wounded by that comment.]

[UGH, YOU ARE FRUSTRATING. People have called her dumb before, but at least she can see the obvious.

The only lesson I learned was to not trust Willy Wonka and his candy.

Unlike you, I decided to keep winning instead of being a loser.

[She blows a gum bubble and pops it for emphasis.]

[She's stomping away because you are worse than Veruca. Complete rage quit because she's already won in her mind; this Violet's going to go an think she's a winner and get punished for it again and she would have told her so. This other her has already lost in Violet's eyes.]

It'll get me more trophies, that's what it'll get me. I can't see you getting anything!

[She doesn't need to win things; her parents still ignore her and she got punished, so it's not worth it.

[Violet, seemingly unphased, continues to chew her gum. She is a bit shocked by what she could have been if she really had given up chewing gum and winning trophies for everything else she did. She wonders if the other her ever did regain her parents' favor like she did by winning numerous other trophies.]

[She stares at the other person for a moment before, as in in display, she blows another bubble and pops it.]

Because I've been chewing this piece for months. I am a champion, you know.

That's a really weird thing to be a champion in.

I would think it'd be better to find new things to chew instead of the chewing the same thing for so long.

Then you don't know what it means to be a champion.

Oh, I wouldn't dream of trying anything without properly researching it first. Unless the world is in danger, but that's usually only one or two times a month.
