i'm only like 50% sorry for being a terrible person...maybe 40%
[Someone is whistling the strains of Peter and the Wolf before ending on a laugh. Did someone order a side of unhinged with their day?]
I appreciate the irony.
[A beat]
I like you kid, you've got...Guts. But I should warn you, I'm a little harder to wrangle than the other animal you've got chained up in here. Derek's always liked a pretty face, but I bait to something else.
I'm willing to bargain. I'll help you steer around the curves, and...I get Peter Hale's head on a stick.
Deal?

But she's smiling widely at you. Being dead sort of lets you in on the giant cosmic joke that was you helping kill Peter with fire. She's a fan of the ending]

Don't know if you got the memo in the afterlife, but Peter's pretty dead. Burnt flesh, slashed throat. The works. [As... far as he knows. Oh early season 2.]

I know. The whole thing was kind of poetic, don't you think? [But she's not stupid] This place clearly doesn't care for the rules, and most of the places we're gonna get sent? Don't either.

You may have been the cause for the Hale house fire and responsible for many, many innocent deaths, but beneath all of that, you're still her aunt, Kate. Seeing you magically back from the dead hurts. ]

Well, maybe her death helped a little]
Allison, sweetie...
[But really, what is she supposed to say? She'll just reach out, just short of touching]
no subject
Don't. [ Her throat's too tight so the word comes out sounding a little strangled, but she manages. ] Just... don't.
hi welcome to the terrible people club (i'm the secretary)
Hello, Kate. Welcome back. You know, I'd always wished we'd had a little longer to talk.
oh mr secretary, you shouldn't have gotten me such a lovely present ♥
[Isn't it sad when you seem more thrilled about this than her own family? She's not really sorry about it, for her, you're kind of like finding a Queen in a sea of little pawns]
You're in luck, I happen to have all the time in the world to give you the opportunity.
[Can she start with a play by play of your horrible demise?]

[Because Wrath is definitely her sin. She turns a little less amused at that. The fact that you got a return ticket if nothing else, should have convinced everyone else you were dangerous. She'd had the right idea] She's better off.
How did you like murdering your niece?

It takes a moment and when he speaks, his words are careful and his expression carefully guarded. ]
Your commitment to your goals has always been admirable, Kate. [ Her goals? Not so much. ]

[She spreads her hands, palms out, the universal gesture of being completely harmless. Her smile is wide, near picture perfect and genuine. The eyes though, well that's something else] I'm almost hurt, one would think you weren't happy to see me.
[She's caught somewhere between feeling betrayed, and the kind of anger that sits and consumes. The kind of empty, nothing that she gets when she sees an enemy. Still, she steps closer, easy and non-threatening. Just because she's never had to do this song and dance with him before, not really, doesn't mean she doesn't know how] But thank you. I'd always hoped you'd take to imitating.

He makes no motion to return the smile but he does step forward as she does. As he lifts his arms, there's a thought that he's played this game before but never against this kind of opponent - against shared blood. ]
There's a difference between perception and truth. [ He reaches out, lets his arms find their way around her as they normally would have. Because even if he's cautious, disappointed in his sister for all that she's done.. she is still his sister. He is happy to see her in the sense anyone would be happy to see a dead sibling. ]
I may not approach the objective with the same outward aggression as you do, but I wouldn't say I'm any less committed. [ There's much to be said for subtly, after all. ]

Instead she just pretends she still thinks there's safety here, and like she can't feel the metaphorical knife twisting right beneath her shoulder blade]
No? From where I'm standing, that's exactly what I'd say. [Because Peter Hale is definitely back from the dead, and until he's gone, and gone for good this time, she'll never be able to think anything else]
this will probably get very tl;dr in the near future, I'm so sorry
It's more than just Kate's presence that's causing it. It's her words - the implication that she'll make a move against Peter. Against his uncle, his only remaining family. His pack. And his only thought is that he won't allow it. That he won't let her destroy anymore of his family.
He takes a breath and his fingers uncurl in a slow, tense roll of his fingers. ]
The only thing you'll get is your throat ripped out.
i love tl;dr AND I AM SORRY BACK BECAUSE SHE'S PSYCHO /sob
You shouldn't throw stones in glass houses, Derek] You don't have it in you.
[It's confident. He'd known it was her, had carried that around for six years and done absolutely nothing with it. But she shrugs, easy, smiles and comes his way like he's nothing, like he's not a threat.
But isn't that the real problem? Derek's never been anything but inconsequential to her, like a fun perk of the job, an oblivious weapon at best. He hadn't even been worth hunting down]
And someone already beat you to that one. You could stand to be a little more...creative.
