As for matters in the castle- [She softens a little, despite herself, and the faintest hint of a smile dances about her lips.] - you have my thanks for that, I suppose.

Lately, perhaps. [ And everything else, the worst of it at least, was away from the castle - out of her dear friend's eyes ] I would wonder if there'd been some learning there, although our lives never are quite so simple.

[ Hey, she was trying to downplay it ] I've heard it defined before. [ Not that it's ever applied, not even before her life became what it was - simple often involves playing by the rules, and she doesn't ]

[ What happened to the 'friends don't laugh at friends' rule? ] I believe you know that answer already. [ If only from the small amount she's told you. A long lived human should be key ] And share a similar unfamiliarity with it.
