You spent days after the finale agonizing about how everything in my life is going to get worse, but now do you want me to fix things with my pack? Do you want me to come to a compromise with the Argents? Do you want me to finally earn Scott's trust?

No.

You want me to stay allied with the man who murdered my sister, and who you're certain is going to betray me.

Or maybe you don't know what you want, and you've just managed to figure out that this is the only real option I have left. It's the only bridge that actually survived being burned.

Fixing things with your pack and working out a compromise with the Argents are still good ideas. They don't have to be mutually exclusive with staying allied with me. You could do it, Derek. It means going out of your comfort zone, it means trying very hard to make the connections you failed to make the first time around. But you could do it.

Things with Erica and Boyd might just about be salvageable, but I don't think there's ever going to be peace with the Argents. The one thing in common between Kate, Gerard, Victoria, and Allison, is that we didn't start any of these fights. Every single time something has happened, to our family, to Scott? We try to let it go and they come after us again.

We have been compromising with them, but I don't think they're capable of stopping.

And yet, you know Allison will come down on Scott's side, and Allison's dad will come down wherever she does. Allison can be swayed. She can't be trusted, just like I can't be, but she can be influenced — for now, until the alphas are handled.

You're right, though. You'll need to deal with them eventually.

I'm not sure that we do know that anymore. She didn't side with us because of Scott, she just stopped killing us when Gerard revealed that he'd be happy to murder his own family to get his way.

Besides, as long as Scott doesn't want anything to do with us, I don't know if any of that matters.
