"Patience is a virtue...?" I believe that was it.

A virtue for those who lack the means to inspire obedience in others, that's it.

Should a ruler not wish to inspire his people to want to obey him? Patience and understanding are paramount to that.

I've yet to meet a subject of mine that deserves my honest patience, let alone understanding.

Perhaps you have simply never given them the chance...?

The truly deserving show themselves regardless of the chance given to them.
