I'm afraid so, but it's the nature of the job. I don't recall you ever mentioning it in your stories, though.

My uncle never really mentioned paperwork duty to me, either. Even as Fire Lord, there's not much paperwork. Just a lot of negotiating and dealing with people in person. Guess things have changed over seventy years, but I can't say it sounds exciting.

But, even though it's just paperwork doesn't mean it's any easier. Hopefully you don't skip too many hours of sleep because of it.

It depends. Sometimes there are things that just have to get done, and you need a late night without telephone calls to get through it. You learn to think with a clear mind on scarce hours of sleep. You have to, and I knew that while I was striving for this position.

It's not fun, but it's important. Could use a vacation, though.

I'm in an important position, but the war wouldn't have been won without the efforts of the Avatar and her friends. If this is the price I have to pay for a victory, then I'm more than okay with it.

I've looked the UF Navy recruitment ads recently...

It's amazing how little they mention about paperwork and drills. It's mostly adventure, adventure, swashbuckling adventure! and then a little blurb about a life long career and money.

'Funny' is right. We probably wouldn't get half the recruits we do if it weren't for those ads. Nobody cares about the honor of the job these days.

Never are, especially during a crisis. Plus I get the added bonus of having to put an entire force back together.
