Well, I can't exactly commend you for your shortcomings.
You may want to look into other opportunities, as you have said so yourself, I'm retired.
Then again, it wouldn't be all that surprising if you were to go back on that word as well.
And I shouldn't have to apologize for not taking you seriously. You can hardly keep your promises to those you consider the dearest to you, why should I be any different?
This is the point where I 'suggest you make a well informed decision' but heaven knows, you won't. I'll begin to expect quality progress when you give me reason to. Otherwise, leave me be.
