"Little men?"

[ The Dwarven King's brow shot up once he heard the maiden utter such words. As proud as the Dwarves of Erebor are, of course Thorin takes some great offense in her seemingly affectionate take on dwarven kind. His beard bristles in mild agitation, clearly displeased with the "little" part more than anything else. While he cannot find fault in the girl to punish her too harshly, Thorin does have some stern words to share. ]

As "little" as we are, I hardly find such a word to be appropriate when speaking of us dwarves. Therefore, shall I suggest you think of my people as anything other than "little" for the sake of sparing our pride?

We need not be as tall as the elves to warrant some respect amongst men.

Oh! [She hasn't met other dwarfs though honestly it only made sense that there would be. Her men didn't seem to mind, except Grumpy but he minded everything except her cooking. Still! It seems she has insulted someone and she certainly didn't mean to upset him! So there was only one thing to do!]

I've never met an elf, sir. But I respect you and my dwarfs quite well. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have a place to stay and they're my very dear friends! I didn't mean to insult them.

[ Of course the fair maiden manages to ease his ire with such careful but sweet words. Whoever these dwarves might be, they are quite lucky to have such a beauty care for them.

Deciding that perhaps he was a tad harsh, Thorin tries to cushion his previous words with nicer ones. ]

Pray think nothing of it, sweet girl. The unlikely gentlemen you care for must think of themselves as quite lucky to have you as their friend. Such love and devotion is rather uncommon in this day an age, and I'll admit I'm tad shocked that anyone possesses such qualities anymore.
