Why are we going somewhere new? I mean, we do that on Voyager all the time but why a new ship? What's wrong with Voyager?

And what about my mom, and Neelix? I don't want to go anywhere if they aren't. An explorer can't go anywhere alone, it's one of Starfleet's regulations, it's why they're called away teams. And one person isn't a team. [ Duh ]

So where's Tranquility going? And the crew friendly? It would be nice to have new people to play kadis-kot with, for when my mom or Neelix is busy. [ Because they are. No ifs or buts ] So when are we going? A Captain's Assistant has to be prepared.

What's kadis-kot?

It's a game. It's fun, but it's better the more people you play it with.

I've never heard of it before.

I was unaware Starfleet admitted students so young. [She's teasing. In that linefacy Vulcan way.]

Only the best. And I'm not in Starfleet, not yet, but I am the Captain's Assistant, and that means they'll have to take me.

That sounds like a very interesting position. I presume you take care of what your First Officer cannot?

Well, it's a little more than that. A Captain's assistant greets visitors, gives them a tour of the ship, delivers PADD's and gets the Captain her coffee. It's more to help the Captain, and it let's the First Officer run the ship.

I see. It sounds like a very important position, especially for one so young. Did you grow up on Voyager?

It is, and we get a lot of visitors. [ Which she likes ] I was born there. It's all I've ever known.

[T'Pol does not know how she feels about families on starships, given how dangerous it is in her time - and, let's be real, all times - but having a family right there while she pursues something she loves, that's pretty tempting.]

I imagine you've seen much more than most children your age.

I don't know, but I haven't really met anyone my age. [ With the exception of one or two guests ]

That must be difficult. [SOMEHOW T'Pol got good with kids, she really isn't sure when this happened. But she wishes she could be introducing this girl to Elizabeth.]

Does the crew entertain you on their off hours?

Sometimes, but it's not so bad. [ Not when you're a cutie like Naomi ]

Uh huh. When my mom's busy my Uncle Neelix takes care of me, or there's the holodeck.

I see. And do your mother and uncle teach you?

And the crew. I know how to take a shuttle to one quarter impulse. [ PROUD ]

[Oh God who taught the kid to drive that is terrifying.] An impressive accomplishment.

[ But she was so good at it :( ] And I can plot a course. When I went on my first away mission I got to plot the course back to the ship.

What did you do on this away mission?

I was familiarising myself with the ship. Tom and Seven were running a survey.

I see. [Good God your life, Voyagers.] Did you enjoy it?

It was fun. [ Except for the boring quiet parts ] I didn't feel like I was helping, though.

I'm sure you assisted them a great deal. [Nope not really.]

[ But she totally did ] I hope so. Maybe next time I could do something more?

[WHY IS THERE A NEXT TIME.] Do you intend to go on many away missions?

That's part of being an explorer, and I can't really assist the Captain if I don't help. When you're part of the crew you need to pull your weight.

That is true. I'm a member of Starfleet as well.

See, then you know why I have to help. I wouldn't be a good crew member if I refused.

I have never met a crew member quite so young, but that is a valid explanation.

There probably isn't any others, just me.

Sure. My mom's Human and my dad's Ktarian.

You're the first person I've seen, from Voyager anyway. There was a blue girl and a Vulcan lady.

The 'Vulcan lady' is 'T'Pol' who served on the first Enterprise.

I've seen the Doctor and Captain Janeway. Though the Doctor was some time ago and the captain was from a time before she knew us.

The first Enterprise? From the past? [ Woah. Had they time travelled? ]

Where did you see them? Can we go and see them? Maybe they'll remember.

I saw them on a prison ship and I doubt your mother would approve of me taking you there.
