On Finally Getting an Origin Story

I know, I'm glad I finally got an origin story too. Even if it is one part The Little Mermaid and one part Supergirl, stirred and shaken a little bit.

It could have been far, far worse.

But hey, now that we finally have an origin story for me, and you're up to speed on it...how about we find me a place, hmm? I've been splashing about in your head for years. A home would be nice.

About my secret origin?

Not that it's really a secret. I have, like, no secret identity.

If it's not that secret. I don't know enough about the Justice League, now or past, and I don't have many opportunities to learn more, in a game.

It's about as secretive as Wonder Woman's was. And everyone knows she was a princess from a previously-thought mythical race.

So, I'm the second-born child of Aquaman and Mera - though his first daughter. I was kidnapped as a baby by Darkseid, who wanted me to be raised to become one of his Female Furies, led by the frightening Granny Goodness. My dad managed to save me and, when he brought me back home, he became incredibly overprotective of me. It was really worse than what my older brother went through. But then, Daddy always told me that I was the twinkle of his eye. I'm not sure Arthur, Jr was ever told the same thing?

But - and here's the part I'm sure you've heard before from other stories of other princesses from the sea - as I grew older, I became enamoured with the world above. During one of my visits there I met a winged hero named Warhawk and...well. You know. I liked him, he liked me...

Anyway, Daddy found out because I started visiting the surface world so much, and I had to make a decision. Atlantis, or the surface world. I couldn't have it both ways. Which, honestly, hurts a little bit. He was a reserve member of the Justice League, after all.

When Superman offered me a membership on the League...well. My decision was clear.

I haven't seen or spoken to Daddy since.

Yeah, I know how they go; I lived one for a couple weeks. Still got a souvenir from that.

[A squee when she talks about Warhawk.]

Really? You and Warhawk? That's so sweet! But... I'm so sorry about your dad. Mine's overprotective of me, too, but he at least never gave me an ultimatum like that. Has- has anyone else from the League talked to him since then?

He's a good man. Wonderful, even. Besides, it helps that he comes from a superheroic lineage as well, you know?

I'm sure that he's had contact with Superman - everyone always has contact with Superman - but no one's really told me anything.

I am in touch with my mom and brother, though. So that's something.

Yeah. From what I've heard, his parents were good people. [A guilty look; she recently told Hawkgirl about her son, taking her completely by surprise.]

But- none of them tell you about your father?
