[ No one is caught more off-guard by this interruption than Karako. The change this girl brings about in Nagi keeps her dumbstruck, and the teasing remark she had planned on chiming in with, that maybe he should listen to the kid and go lie down a bit, dies in her throat. She's never seen him this way, with all the empathy gone out of him. It makes her blood run cold the more she listens, knowing that there's no way in hell whatever she asks next will get a pretty answer. ]
