A city of sin? How is this different than any other city?

Dear Mun,

From the World of Darkness into the city of sin, I am not sure I will even notice the difference. They are both the shadowy versions of reality where the light doesn't shine so bright and the dark is far more frightening. As a mage, though, I do not feel unequal to the challenge that this shift would give me. I am not without means to protect myself. That is not to say I am invincible by any stretch of the imagination. I have my inner demons, as you well know. So guide me to this city and I will do the best I can to survive and in time, thrive.

I'm sure there are some who would see a city with this name as a free ticket to act a maggot. However, I am far more curious about the magic behind the world and what effects this has one a person. Who are you? And what connections have you to the city I am about to explore?

Cheers, to you. You have found me. I am flattered you would think I am someone noteworthy enough to seek out. Perhaps over a drink, you could tell me more about who you are and why you have sought me. Greenville is a dull name, but from what my mun explained to me it was an attempt to be as universal as possible. The moderators after all being from opposite sides of the country. It helped keep the world from reflecting either city too exclusively.

No problem, buddy! [Kronk was a sweet, helpful guy... but not very bright. Still, he wanted to look out for everyone, so they didn't get themselves turned into llamas like Emperor Kuzco.]

What's your name? Since I'm meeting so many new people, I hope that I'll run into someone else named Kronk one day!

I'm sorry to disappoint you. Kronk is not my name. I am Julian Reed from the classic World of Darkness canon- specifically Mage the Ascension. I'm part of the Hollow Ones tradition if you know what that means.

What about you? Where are you from?

I'm Kronk and I'm from Emperor Kuzco's empire! We got lots of llamas. [Kronk smiled slowly.] Llamas are fuzzy.

My name is Julian Reed. Nice to meet you Miss [he raises an eyebrow to indicate this word was in question] Abel. My mun is preparing to lead me to the City of Sin. Are you familiar with it?

Oh yeah. I've been there nearly a year now. In fact, my anniversary is August second.

I'm thinking of throwing a party, actually.

And yeah. "Miss." But you can call me Diana.

A year, that is a long time to be in such a place. I imagine that to be quite the accomplishment. Congratulations Diana. [He gives her a charming smile. Though it lacks the power of hers as he does not have Presence.] Where were you before your mun lead you to Bete Noire?

Phoenix, Arizona. Or what's left of it anyway. The government kinda called in an airstrike.

[Julian gives her a sympathetic but knowing look.]

That's unfortunate. I'm sorry to hear it. At least you made it out safely. What can you tell me about this place my mun is sending me? Tips from the survivors, so to speak.

Um...I may not be the best person to ask for advice. I tend to screw up royally all the time. I mean, my resume is not pretty:

-Get stuck when the Magistrate's building collapses
-Date two versions of the same guy at the same time
-End up kidnapped by anti-magic zealots and shot on live TV
-Attend one of Bonnie's costume parties

Yeah. I tend to get in trouble a lot.

Touche! That does not sound like an easy year if I ever heard one. You've managed to survive all that? You must be a pretty strong person. I'm probably showing my ignorance, but a costume party doesn't sound too bad. What made that a 'royal screw up'?

Aren't those who get into trouble the most having the most fun?

Try a costume party where everyone turns into their costume. I spent the next week convinced that I was the Lady of the Lake. Ran around town demanding every stranger I met on the street lead me to Camelot.

Sounds like when I get to Bete Noire I should take you out for drinks to hear the rest of those stories. I bet they are equally as interesting. My mun is curious and pestering me to ask you if we are able to 'remember' this interaction before we enter the game. Or do I meet you anew within the city walls?

Afraid we'll have to start from scratch, dude.

Buuuut, I'm a crap liar and pretty much everyone in the city knows all my secrets, so it's not like I'm gonna make you work too hard for it.

Hope you don't have problems with Kindred, though.

Damn. Well hopefully I'll run into you again quickly. [He looks quite disappointed. Then he chuckles at the wink.]

Kindred? I don't have any problems with them per say. In fact, I tried my hand at a relationship with a Ravnos once in my other story arch. Beautiful, exotic woman. No, I don't hold anything against Kindred on an individual leave. As a whole though, I have seen from the World of Darkness a lot of damage caused by their sect wars.

Did you bring this up because that is what you are? [He gives her a thoughtful smile.]

An independent Malkavian? My knowledge of the clans is limited but from what I recall, and what my mun tells me, your clan is one of the most misunderstood. People don't recognize your unique perspectives on the world as valuable as they really are. Do you find that to be the case here?

Also, how does the forum handle powers like ours?
