on pondering future plots
And now you grow bored and... expect me to entertain you? Even though... your plan barely even provides me with means to entertain myself. [ Buckingham clicks his tongue. ] Or should you have me take up gardening?
...Oh now, don't tell me that joke was yours to make? I am ever so sorry, inspiration... must be dreadfully hard to come by these days. For you.
...Oh now, don't tell me that joke was yours to make? I am ever so sorry, inspiration... must be dreadfully hard to come by these days. For you.

PLAN??? WHAT PLAN??
Yes, exactly. That is the problem.
[ Why, he could never! ]
B(
[Preen.]
...Oh, the mun wants me to ask yours if she saw the namedrop I gave Tony Stark.
Translation: I want to do plotty things with him but I don't know what
[ Hairflip. Except not really, because that would ruin the perfection that is his pompadour. ]
...I daresay she was rather enthralled by your gesture. Although why either of you would be so utterly preoccupied with such a drab fellow is... beyond my imagination.
[ Cue ever so apologetic sigh. ]
OH, okay. I thought you had a specific plot but FOR REASONS couldn't do it
[She is not convinced. Also, what.]
Preoccupied is taking it a little far. I just gave a suggestion.
not unless you count 'I want him to bicker with King Louis but I can't because we don't have a king'
[ A thin smiler. ]
...Fonder, wearier, whatever it is they... like to say. And we are talking now, aren't we?
[ Problem solved! ]
oh, well that was a given
I suppose that makes up for the huge loss in my life.

[ Sincere concern. Right back at you. ]

[Innocent smile of innocence.]
*o* i have never seen a musketeers muse around here
Fortunately, there is more than enough to do around here. Perhaps in entertaining yourself, you will entertain your mundane as well.
I play with a magnificent Athos @eway and an Anne just showed up, so that's a start! :DD
sparkliestfinest money could possibly buy. ]More than enough? [ He chuckles, not particularly amused. ] Not where she had me take up residence, I assure you.
[ He sighs a little. ]
No coin to spend and nothing worth spending it on to begin with. A mansion without staff and a population without the spirits to provide anyone with amusement.
omg i have a porthos and a d'artagnan
I am sorry to hear that, though if you are to rely only on those games of theirs, well then no wonder you are so bored! There are plenty of other interesting places to go. [ Resisting the urge to attach a pet name here. Very difficult thing to do.create amusement, non? [ From one trouble-maker to another. He offers him a smirk. ]
SCREAMS. any chance your porthos might be looking for a game? /VERY SUBTLE ENABLING
Without the right company,
[ Buckingham concedes and decides that this is the perfect moment to take a longer and closer look at the other man. ]
And without the right to travel anywhere I choose, otherwise... I would find myself in a more interesting place as well, I'm sure.
I YES i yes definitely except i haven't exactly picked which adaptation to take porthos from
Aaa oui I am sure you would. But this place itself is a wonder, non? Perhaps you should ask your mundane for a visit to the Hôtel Amour, or the place where all of those strange mais wonderful things can happen to you! [ He is, of course, speaking of the love hotel and bakerstreet. Francis has never been too skilled in describing things. ]
Still, even the worst of games, even when you are stuck on a spaceship, there are things to do, people to speak with. You must be more optimistic.
no subject
[ He decides to repeat that very slowly, though certainly not without amusement. ]
More entertaining than its name is subtle, I should hope. Ahh, but my mundane tells me I would enjoy myself even without coin, although... I question her taste these days.
[ Buckingham ponders those places idly, wondering if he ought to be more adamant about a visit. ]
Mhh, but you must tell me more of this spaceship. They say the sky is the limit, but I... suspect they lied.
[[ OOC: Any particular adaptions you're torn between? At entranceway we play mainly from the nefarious 2011 movie version, but we've got a few elements from Dumas and historical bits floating about for background info as well. ]]

[ Oh, oh wow. And Englishman who doesn't have an awful accent in French. This is something he hasn't heard in many years. ]
Beaucoup plus que ça, I assure you. And while it may be fun to disagree with these mundanes, I think that she is right. There is everything and everyone to do there. [ He smirks, leering at the Duke. ] C'est incroyable.
[ Oh descartes, he doesn't want to go into ataraxion. What a terrible place. The Frenchman just shakes his head. ] If it was half as pleasant as you were imagining, I would be sure to tell you all of the details. But I must say it is anything but; I am sure it is purgatory.
[[ ooc;; yeah about four of them LOL i really liked the '66 television mini series, as well as the book, but i also really liked the '11 version. of course i already have a muse from the man in the iron mask and i really liked gerard depardieu as porthos. alors, je puis pas choisir, haha. ]]
no subject
Indeed? Ahh, but of course then I dare say that fleeting pleasure is rather preferable to eternal damnation.
[ He chuckles a little. ]
And perhaps you... could offer me un petit tour sometime?
[ You did want that leer returned, non~? ]
[[ Ohh, I haven't actually seen the '66 one (yet), but looking it up I see that Porthos was played by Brian Blessed, so that is really all that's needed to convince me of its beauty. I DARE NOT MAKE A SUGGESTION, they are all wonderful, so I will just sit here and make starry eyes at all your muses in case you do feel like choosing and
drag one crying and screamingbring one into our game. ]it's one (sort of) louis too late, but here, have a king
A (sort of) Louis! The best kind! Hooray! \o/

[ Devotion to the Lord is to Buckingham what eating Brussels sprouts is to a spoiled little boy: It won't happen more than necessary and will only be done with dedication while under observation of somebody who might otherwise chide him too much for neglecting it. ]
After all our... Lord's presence is eternal, but a fine banquet spoils so quickly.
no subject
You cannot postpone your worship of the Lord. Eternal or not, if you are to be a good man, you must value his presence over all Earthly amenities. [ With the faintest hints of a smirk: ] No banquet has food so rich that it may be more delightful than forgiveness from the Lord. Not even a banquet made for a king.
[ Offhandedly: ] I would know.
no subject
About royal banquets or the Lord's forgiveness?
no subject
Tiredly: ] Both.
[ He's a little surprised this man doesn't recognise him, if not by his face then by his clothes, and if not by than, then by his attitudes. Especially such a well-dressed obviously aristocratic gentleman, no matter how hedonistic he may be. ]
no subject
Ah, but give his judgement time. Tragically enough that face will only be born ten years after the duke's death, but mhhh, perhaps similarities to his parents can be argued...
Yes. Yes, quite, Buckingham should like to think that he never forgets a face, certainly not an important one, most certainly not one accompanied by such fine clothing, but--
But no name springs to mind, nothing to call the vaguely familiar young man and the longer he goes unnamed the more vexing the thought becomes. Very well, Buckingham gives up. ]
Mhh, now, the forgiveness I understand remains between a man and God, the banquet on the other hand... I should like to think it involves a larger crowd than that and yet you... are rather unfamiliar a host. Or guest, for that matter.
[ ...that really is as close to a 'Who the hell are you, anyway?' as he will allow himself to come. ]
no subject
As the man casts him a scrutinizing glance, Philippe instinctively looks down, not bashful so much as nervous. Such a judgemental gaze could unnerve most men, and as Philippe had only recently inherited the title of royalty, it wasn't in his nature to meet such stares with ease.
But after a moment, he picks his head back up to meet eyes with the Duke, and his lips tighten into a frown, doing what he can to resist the urge to back down. When the look finally ceases, Philippe exhales a breath he didn't know he was holding, and straightens up a little.
The question, (or implied question, anyway), takes him by surprise. And to think he thought he looked like a double of his brother. But unlike his indignant brother, Philippe recognizes when he has a man at a loss, and he can't help from simpering. ]
Should a King not be familiar with both?
[ A raise of the eyebrows. ]
no subject
That is... quite right, but if- [ He chuckles. ] -Your Majesty will forgive the thought, then I should like to think that one ought to be familiar with the king as well, at least to the point of recognition, eh?
[ Buckingham looks at the young man again. No, he is quite confident in his knowledge, at the very least passing knowledge, of Europe's royals and he does not have a spot in that category. ]
But you... must tell me of your kingdom then. I have travelled much, but... not enough, never enough, I believe. Where... is it that I might find your court, again?

Are you making an inquiry or a request?

And how fleeting an acquaintance it was, compared to... the attention you deserve.

[ Lord Buckingham would never dare to imply otherwise. Except when he does. Which is always. ]
He will arrive here any moment, I presume?
no subject
no subject
[ Which would be dreadful. Utterly dreadful.
Buckingham chuckles and shakes his head, pretending to dismiss his own comment. ]
Ah, but I have been... quite thoughtless, of course it is not the king's business I ought to concern myself with.
[ He gives one slow nod, as if bowing again. ]
What brings the Queen of France here and is there any way I might assist in... your affairs?
no subject
I'm certain you know the manner of my arrival here, so I needn't say more than that. I understand that you are in a.. place called 'Wonderland' with Athos.
no subject
Mhh, quite so. Might you consider joining us, perhaps? There is always room for another wonder.

[ Occasional murder excluded from description. ]

[ And a perfect smile, served right along with it. ]
I could hardly imagine it any other way, but to have Wonderland blessed with the sight of you I would court him, if you asked me to.
