I may not have given birth to Loki, but that doesn't make him any less my son. From the moment Odin put him in my arms, I knew he was going to be different. Loki was always a sensitive boy, but I never expected him to react in this manner.

The only thing I wish is that my children be happy and healthy. All this fighting and turmoil in our family....I hope it ends soon. I want us to be a family once more.

If only he would come home.... It isn't the same around the palace without him and his little tricks.

It will never be the same, I believe, even if he were to come home. He has changed. Thor has changed. Perhaps we all have.

Thor has become everything we hoped he would and Loki has fallen into darkness.

[It seemed with every good fortune there came a dark twist that neither of them with all their grace and powers could predict]

Perhaps we should have told Loki of his heritage sooner....but we kept putting it off and hiding it.

Not damaged, just....lost to the darkness within himself.

Yes, his father and I have made our mistakes. I'll freely admit to that.

Do you truly believe this is a matter of over-sensitivity? I hazard to say that is an over-simplification of the situation. [ He cuts his words short, the instinct to call her Mother still rings in his head. ]

I wouldn't say that's the root of the problem, I was merely referring to your childhood.

[Loki. Her Loki. It was so good to see him, but she had to keep her poise. Even if she wanted to sweep him into her arms and banish the darkness that had overtaken him]

I know not if we could be a family once more. [ He frowns, as if he is unsure of his own words-- or perhaps saying them to her. Frigga has always been different than the rest, he has not forgotten even if he has twisted all else. ]

Or if we ever were.

[A mother's love knows no boundaries. Not even for the child of their greatest enemy. Loki had always been hers, from the very day Odin had presented him to her]

Of course we were a family. Don't you remember play-fighting with your brother? The two of you playing games in the halls. Odin telling you war stories even after I'd told him to stop repeating those same stories.

That is my wish also, mother. I will do everything in my power to bring him home.

We rely on you to make him see the error of his ways, son.

Would that I knew how! He takes my words, spoken with truth and good intention, and turns them to mean something else. [For a moment it seems as though he's going to get angry, but then he deflates.]

How am I to reach him, mother? He is my brother and I love him, but he will not see it.

Perhaps he needs more time. Or maybe I should go to see him myself. I just hate to have your father conjure up more power.

[She would leave Odin's side for her boys though, if she absolutely had to]

No matter what he does, he's still a part of this family.

Were it as easy as your words have it, I would have already. But I am cursed, I think, to find no peace.

[ He will be gentle with her, because he loves her, because it has been weeks since he fell from the Bifrost (in his eyes). Weeks, not months. ]

Do you think I care if you're cursed or not? You're my son and I just want you to come home.

[ But he doesn't deliver it with true hostility; there is uncertainty beneath, and love, both. He thinks perhaps, perhaps he was her favorite, when he was young. ]

I know of no one else who raised you from the time you were an infant until you were a man. That is a mother's duty.
