Finally all caught up in the show
All these swords and they all should be pointing north instead of south. I cannot fathom why the men of my generation and the next simple cannot find more important matters to concern themselves with. Who rules the Seven Kingdoms matters not, all that matters is the welfare of the realm itself. Grow weary of hearing stories of these fat little lords that sleep so peacefully while waging meaningless wars all for the sake of an Iron Throne.
You, milady, know this well. Therefore, don't humor me with needless thoughts of revenge. If you're so brazen to claim the First Ranger of the Night's Watch as your muse, then you certainly know where my oath lies. For the sake of the realm, I shall fight until my dying breath. However, for the sake of mindless politics, I will not even so much as lift my sword.
[ A thoughtful pause claims Benjen for a brief moment. He's obviously disturbed by the thought that came to mind. ]
...Although, I certainly cannot stomach to think that I've lost more at King's Landing than I have during my missions beyond the Wall. I do believe that the monsters that hunt for our blood are more compassionate than we are to each other. A crying shame, that.
[ A scoff of disdain is heard. ]
This winter shall be a long one.
