I'd have to agree with that; there's a little saying that practice makes perfect, and I'm pretty sure that whoever came up with it didn't come up with it for no reason. Doing some extra research if you're feeling unsure about things is a pretty good idea, too. As long as you don't give up on it, you can pull it off, right?

As for the other subject, well, I don't like sounding negative or anything, but sometimes some things just sound too good to be true, and personally I think I would be a little cautious about going there.

After a moment, she opens her mouth to say something, but realizes she doesn't know how to respond. Would it ease her pain? Mine's sometimes the same way, really. He decides he wants to try to do something, and when it comes time to do it he's having second thoughts about it for just about every reason he can think of. Voice, personality, history, even what he thinks other people would think.

You already have it right, though; for voice it's a matter of practice, and for things like history you just have to be sure to do the research. If it's the writing part, that just takes a little patience, I think. As for what people think, though, who cares as long as you're having fun?

That's mostly because the thought terrifies him, really. I have to say, though, that his way of dealing with it is pretty ironic. To avoid doing something that would make people scrutinize him, he just does a completely different thing that could still make people scrutinize him.
