[ but his lips thin and he adverts his gaze. ]

I keep hoping she'll actually let it go someday. [ as naive as he knows that sounds. ]

[highwarlock]

Hopefully you'll have better luck at getting her to let it go than I did, darling.

It might be a waste of breath at this point.

But... It's good to see you.

[highwarlock]

[ This is where he smiles, nice and soft. ]

It's good to see you, too. I've missed you.

[senca]

I've missed you, too. [ a small smile of his own tugs at his lips. ] How have you been?

[highwarlock]

It's been a rough ride. But I'm doing okay. [ A smirk. ] Definitively better now, though.

[senca]

Good. [ a pause as his smile widens of its own accord. and then he repeats himself, the word coming out more soft and breathy than he would like: ] Good.

[highwarlock]

[ Alec you precious baby. Don't mind Magnus as he hugs you. For basically forever. Because even though it's only been a little over six months, it feels like a lot longer. ]

[senca]

[ alec doesn't waste much time returning the hug, arms moving to wrap around magnus and keep him close. it's these little moments that make it all worth it - puppet, or not. he can manage just fine without the wizard, but with him, it's much more than "managing". ]

[highwarlock]

[ Magnus exhales slowly. It's nice to have Alec back in his arms, even if it's only for a little bit. After a moment, he pulls back, but only far enough to look at him. ]

How about you? How have you been?

[senca]

[ when magnus pulls back that little bit, alec rests one of his hands on his upper arm and smooths his fingers against the fabric of his sleeve. ]

I haven't been bad, but... It's been quiet. I should probably be thankful for that. [ but his tone likely says otherwise. ]

[highwarlock]

I think I'd take quiet over cat-stealing vines.

[ He pulls a brief scowl before smoothing his expression out again. ]

[senca]

Vines? [ his brows furrow. while it's not entirely out of the ordinary, he's having trouble sorting through one thing... ] They tried to take your cat?

[highwarlock]

Mm. And my spellbooks, and clothes, and anything that wasn't bolted down. [ A pause. ] There were also little sprite... things. A lot of people were calling them faeries, but they were nothing like our Fair Folk.

[senca]

[ now he pulls a face, but it doesn't last long. ] Is that sort of thing normal where you're at?

[highwarlock]

Unfortunately so. That's probably one of the easier things we've experienced, to be honest. "Fun" is definitely not a word I'd use to describe this place.

[ He tucks his fingers into Alec's hair and runs a thumb across his cheekbone. ]

... They have awfully nice clothes, though.

[senca]

But you're okay. [ it's more of a statement - words to reaffirm magnus' well-being in his own mind. he moves his hand from his upper arm to brush his fingertips along magnus' forearm.

but then he smiles with a small breathy chuckle. ] As long as it has its perks, I suppose.

[highwarlock]

I'm fine. [ It's a conformation. A reassurance.

He smiles. ]

The city is beautiful, when it isn't covered in mist and vines. We could travel the world forever and we'd never find anything like it.

[ alec doesn't press it. he trusts magnus, but he'll still worry. instead, his smile mellows and he nods. ]

It certainly sounds interesting from what you've said. [ and dangerous, but that's basically par for the course. ] Tell me more about it?

[ Dangerous, yeah, but you've gotta take the good with the bad. ]

It looks a lot like Victorian London. Stone buildings, horse-drawn carriages, a lot of places are powered by means other than electricity. [ The place certainly brings back memories. ]

The best part, I think, is all the different people. They come from all sorts of universes, with different cultures and species. You know, some warlocks have to use wands in certain worlds.

[ He thinks it's silly. ]

Well, it sounds beautiful, like you said.

Are there a lot of people there? [ but the wand thing has his smile widening just a little bit. ] I imagine having to use a wand would be inconvenient. What if it was broken, or they misplaced it?

There are quite a few people. Enough to keep things interesting. [ His grin widens. ] Exactly. And they say actual words, usually Latin based ones, to cast their spells.

Even if there weren't, I doubt you'd get bored. [ it's almost teasing. almost. he does, after all, have faith in magnus' imagination of all things. but he's still smiling. ] I suppose stealth wouldn't be much of an option for them.

Without you around, I'm always bored. [ This is the truth. He'd choose Alec over any strange or interesting person in Anatole any day. ] See? Their magic is completely useless.
