[ yes yes she knows, there is a promise that was made that may or may not still need to be kept, but. it's pretty much impossible to avoid talking to a flustered Peter. it's like this impulse thing, she has no control over it. ]

I disagree. [ she's chewing her lip before she says anything more, because maybe she shouldn't even go here. maybe it's better to ignore what she knows and try and steer the conversation to that 'safe' place. the one where she has no idea who he is beyond Peter Parker, and what he's done. ]

I think you were always kind of a hero. In a-- subtle way. You know, like in the ways that a high school kid can be. Super just makes it sound like something else entirely. [ something unreal, impossible, fiction. fabricated. and there's nothing fabricated about Peter's bravery. ]

[ said with amusement because its always kind of funny how honesty can make a person bashful. and Peter certainly delivers on that front. ..not! not that she finds other people's embarrassment enjoyable! she's not so mean. but with Peter, it's different. it's different because he has this smile, right, this thing where all he has to do is smile and it twists up her brain in a way that makes it impossible to think straight.

so yeah, if her honesty makes him stammer just the same- she'll take it. ]
