[holds up his hands and gestures for Tony to slow down] Two years? The Tony I know-- nevermind. Clearly, you are either from his past and have yet to live what he did, or two completely separate people where I suppose you were born later. [definitely intriguing]

...Is the Bruce Banner you know my age or closer to your own?

The latter, I'm pretty sure. From what I hear, the other Tony's dad knew Captain America, but mine isn't old enough for that.

[Tony peels his hand from his face finally to get a good look at Bruce from the shoulders up.]

Closer to you. He and dad worked together for a while on something.

[wait a second, looks down] Well. I see. ...I need to find something, ah, soon.

[The one and only. Apparently they worked on something together that eventually got weaponized against their wishes and became the thing that created the Hulk. Go figure!]

Sadly, I don't make a habit of carrying extra pairs of pants with me, or I'd have offered already.

[Yeah, he won't like Bruce when he's angry and all that.]

It would probably be best if you just hung out here and I grabbed you something. So you're not, you know, wandering. Naked.

I'd appreciate it, kid. [just sits down, doing his best to hide things]

In that case, back in a few.

[That backpack he's totally been wearing? Yeah, he hits the button where the straps meet on his chest and this happens. He'll be back as soon as he's gone and grabbed Bruce a full set of brand new clothing. Which he probably just bought. From a rather high end place.]

[that was surprisingly impressive. managed to get it into a whole backpack compared to the alcove it's hiding in back at the tower] Have to admit, [gratefully takes clothes and starts to get into them] that was quick.

[Well, MCU Tony does manage to get one suit of armor into a briefcase, but that isn't completely automated like Tony's backpack. The armor is getting put away again as soon as he's landed and handed the clothing over, and then his attention is on the sky as Bruce changes.]

Trying to fight crime while not missing any school helps you figure out how to be fast with errands.

[can't help a small chuckle] Fighting crime while in school. I'm sorry Tony, but it just seems... strange. Not the fighting crime, but being in school.

Hey, I didn't want to do it. It was in dad's will that I go for a few years to get more people skills or something, and at the time we all thought he was dead, so there I was. And I was still trying to keep a secret identity at the time.

(bruce as surrogate!father to tony. why is that image so adorb?)

Trust me, Tony. [hesitates, decides no hand on shoulder] People skills will serve you well in life.

(oh my goodness, it really is.)

Looking back on it, I'm glad I did it, even if it gave me a ton of trouble the last two years. Even if most of the stuff there was way below my level academically.

(somehow, this needs to happen, I'm just not sure how)

[small mouth quirk] Graduated college pretty young, left me pretty out of it how to interact with people. [the whole accident and destroying things didn't help later in life]

Your father's done well for you.

I spent most of my time growing up with pretty much full access to the Stark International building, I knew basically everyone there by name... I'd say my people skills were already pretty great, but I guess I didn't know much about being a normal kid.

[That last bit catches Tony a bit by surprise. He looks almost embarrassed.]

He did his best. Can't say I can complain about it.

There's a difference in being your age and knowing people, trust me. I don't think I was ever a kid. [not with his father, at least, murdering psycho scum]

Don't, and keep that in mind. The Stark I know, and knew, were great men.

Well, my dad's a pretty great man, I know that much. Don't know so much about myself yet.

I pretty much was, kid. [a little smile] You'll be one if you work at it. ...and hopefully be less of an arrogant ass than the Stark I know.

Uh, my dad, technically. I mentioned his will and stuff, right? But it turns out he hadn't been killed, just abducted by some jerk who decided he needed his help trying to get his hands on some all-powerful high tech alien rings. He only got back fairly recently. Before that I was living with one of my best friends, his mom was made my legal guardian.

[Though depending on when exactly he's played from, knowledge of his dad not being quite as dead as the world thought isn't always there.]
