Oh yes, you could definitely say that. I like all birds almost, but phoenixes are something of a favorite.

I had a pet phoenix named Fawkes for many years. I would like to cross paths with him again.

In my world, bonds such as that between humans and animals give the animals a special name - familiars. Fawkes was my familiar.

[Marco is also a bird. He just manages both. He's basically a phoenix animagus but minus most of the magic abilities, and better control over being partially bird partially human, or both at the same time.]

I have no doubt. Tom may have exceeded you and me in certain areas, but he is missing the bigger picture.
