Uh, well, I guess it's kinda like an...uncle or something. Except you're not related. Like he's a guardian! Yeah, that sounds a lot better. Since we named you after the character that never gave up in his book, he was the one that kinda helped name you!

When I heard it, I knew it was perfect. I couldn't decide on a name forever but then Minato, your dad mentioned it and it sorta just clicked really well. I loved it right away. It was the name meant for you.

Nobody else has it either, right?

[obstinates]

[It's funny. Jiraiya always did feel like family to Naruto. He grins a little and rubs the back of his head.]

Uncle, huh? For a long time... ero-sennin felt like the only family I had. So I can kinda see what you mean.

And yeah, I read the book too, heh. That's why I'm proud of my name -- you and dad and ero-sennin all gave it to me.

[Only family he had and it wasn't like he had someone like Minato, like Kushina did. He had said they had filled him up with love before but she still wishes, with everything she had, that things could have been different. That at least Minato could have lived and raised their son.]

[But even without his parents there, he had turned out the way they had wanted him to be. Strong-willed, kind, and a desire for a world where there was no hatred.]

Your dad said that Konoha is a family of shinobi, you know. At the time, it didn't matter to me but...do you think so too?

[Because even though there was a time when everyone hated him and he felt like he was just an outcast, he knows things are different. They all do feel like family, especially people like Iruka and his friends.]

[Relief. He wasn't alone. He had friends and teammates and Jiraiya. Sometimes she still worries because she knew that being a jinchuuriki was very lonely, but he was like her. Despite the odds, he had found a family of friends.

He had Konoha; his home.]

That's probably why you're gonna be Hokage, just like him.
