rewatched "The Puppetmaster," contemplating headcanon & things

Well I hope you're enjoying yourself. Sure, I could use a history -- one before the... obvious -- even if you won't do much of anything worthwhile with it. Or are you reconsidering?

Our legacy does deserve more attention and respect than it got. A great deal more. So write away. You know very well I'm not going anywhere unless you finally make up that mind of yours for good.

I did, when I was just a few years older than you.

I'll keep that in mind. [his smile dims a little though.] Hopefully I won't have to use my bending to hurt anyone.

[Sorry, bitty self. He'd be doing you a disservice if he made it sound like you'll never have to.]

Waterbending's greatest strength isn't bloodbending, but rather its ability to turn an opponent's force against them. Keep that in mind while bending, and you can defend yourself without hurting anyone more than you absolutely have to.
waterlocked: (is it my turn already?)

[he nods his head.] That's fine. I just... I don't ever want to have to hurt anyone with bloodbending.

[He'd really like to tell you that you won't ever have to. But who knows? Maybe this can change things.]

Find a master that specializes in defensive techniques. That fact that you can bloodbend means that you have the necessary fine control for other techniques.

Defensive techniques??? Like a water shield kind of technique?

There are techniques like that, yes. You can also trap an opponent in ice from the neck down, or use waterbending to deflect attacks. Water is a versatile element.
waterlocked: (woah!)

Woah, really? That sounds really cool.

Be prepared to show some of your best waterbending to a master, and you should have no problem finding someone who will gladly teach you those techniques. If you can endure Yakone's training, you already know how to work hard enough to satisfy even the strictest of waterbending masters.

[he nods his head.] Okay! Do you have any suggestions?

[He writes up a list of five bending masters that he knows were around at the time and offers it to his younger self.]

Any of the waterbending masters on this list would be suitable. I have no idea if they're accepting students, but it's worth asking them.

[he nods his head.] Alright, thanks-- uhm?

[Oh, damn. He can't go using the same name. Quick...common name, common name...]

Narook. I hope the list is helpful to you.

Thanks a lot Narook. [he gives a small formal smile as he politely nods his head.]
